The Experience

Take the peaceful top-floor flat if you are a couple. Chat to Rosemary about her many-faceted traveller’s life while she serves you breakfast in the chiaroscuro living room or out on the pretty balcony in warm weather. She will head off to the boulangerie and bring back different choices of bread and pastries to go with your fresh fruit platter and homemade yogurt.

If you prefer privacy choose the modern 3rd-floor apartment with wonderful views onto the garden – but no balcony and breakfast is served in your own dining area. There are two great department stores in walking distance – Galeries Lafayette and Printemps (both with panoramic views from the top), and lots of independent boutiques in Montmartre.

Walk to the top of the steps of Montmartre, admire the Sacré Coeur cathedral, return to very comfortable apartments and a short stroll to good restaurants, cafés and bars.

Oliver

A lovely hostess and lovely flat in a great location. Breakfast comprised fresh fruit, breads and pastries from local shops; particularly good on the balcony on sunny mornings. The flat is peaceful and feels very safe. Can’t really think of any way it could be better!

Victor

Wonderful stay: great accommodations, gracious host, close to everything we wanted to see. Would love to return ourselves and would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Rosemary is a lively and attentive host. She plies you with some of Paris's most delectable patisserie. The apartment has a patio with a southerly aspect, perfect for a sunny afternoon. If you are looking for English hospitality in comfortable surrounds in Paris, look no further.

David

This property is ideally located for exploring Paris. It is incredibly peaceful given it is in such a central location. The most memorable part of my stay was the fascinating discussions over the breakfast/dinner table with the owner, Rosemary. She can provide a unique insight into Parisian life that you won't get in any hotel or indeed I imagine most B&Bs. Rosemary really does welcome you into her home and make you feel comfortable and relaxed. I'd highly recommend this as a place to stay in Paris, whether on business or pleasure.

Dawn

Wonderful location and hospitality. Looking forward to my next visit.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're on the top floor of an elegant building from the turn of the century, in the heart of the 9th arrondissement. Visit the rue d'Orsel, lined with fabric shops, or two lesser-known but fabulous museums - Musée Gustave Moreau and Musée de la Vie Romantique which has one of the prettiest gardens in the city. You're a 20-minute walk from the Gare du Nord or the metro will take you there.

  • Best free museum is the Musée de la Vie Romantique, just steps away. It has a great outdoor café open mid-March to mid-Oct. Favourite museum is l'Orangerie, dip into Impressionist art plus THE waterlilies without being overwhelmed.
  • In 5 mins you can walk to the base of Montmartre; sleep peacefully but be so close to the cafés, restaurants & little shops that make up this vibrant, local, artist community. Ask for my restaurant recommendations or get them from my website.
  • Test the organic market on Saturday mornings at Place de Clichy or the huge local market at Barbès. Direct metro rides will take you to the most famous flea market Puces de Saint Ouen or the more manageable Puces de Vanves.
  • Mobility problems? Wheelchair friendly B&B has no steps to climb and an elevator to the door. Need to be able to take a few steps to access the toilet and to get onto the balcony. If completely wheel-chair bound, '52 Clichy Apartment' is ideal.
