The Experience

Arrive to the sound of cicadas, the scent of lavender drifting through the pretty garden, and a warm welcome from your hosts Ryan and Massimo. Set among vineyards and orchards on the edge of Savigno, this 300-year-old country house is full of family photographs, quirky ceramics, old paintings, Art Deco lighting and antique furniture from the 17th century onwards.

Three individually designed suites – each named after a flower – have pillowy king-size beds, modern en suite bathrooms, and peaceful views out to the garden. High ceilings, terracotta floors and rich fabrics are in the traditional Italian style.

Generous (and award-winning) breakfasts of homemade cakes and jams, local yogurt, cheeses and cold meats, fresh fruit and excellent coffee are served under the shade of old oaks. There’s a lovely heated pool with breathtaking views across the Samoggia valley, and the charming village is just a short walk away.

Reviews

Casa Stella is much more than an authentic country house — it's a living museum. Every corner tells a story: from Faenza and Deruta ceramics to antique paintings, family photographs, vintage pharmacy ads, and furniture spanning from the 1600s to the early 1900s. Art Deco and Art Nouveau touches, alongside 19th- and 20th-century chandeliers and lamps, create an atmosphere that can’t just be observe.

Introducing

Massimo Bertusi & Ryan Taylor

Massimo is from Savigno, while Ryan hails from Cornwall. Together they will warmly welcome you to their historic villa, which was in the Maselli-Ferro family for more than three centuries and was once known as Ca’ di Strala. The couple’s charming blend of Italian traditions and English hospitality makes this place very special.
