The Experience

You enter the house into a low-ceilinged sitting room with a beckoning sofa, roaring fire and, if you choose to pay extra for dinner, the delicious aromas coming from the kitchen. Down a short low passage you’ll find the dining room and steps out to the terraced garden. Books are scattered everywhere, there’s a record player with an impressive classical music collection and a smart TV for films.

Outdoors there are several areas for sitting, eating and walking along the river where in summer you can lie on the rocks in the cooling shallow water. Children will adore their own playground with a small wooden house, you can watch them play safely while you dine on the terrace or fire up one of two barbecues. You’ll find all you need for breakfast left in the kitchen, a big fridge, gas hob and oven but no gadgets – it’s a return to basics sort of kitchen.

Bedrooms upstairs have very comfortable beds, soft white sheets and valley views.

Reviews

A real find that I'd like to keep to myself, and a treat to spend the night at La Cappelletta. Simone couldn't have been more welcoming and exhaustive in answering all my questions! The dinner was outstanding, homemade cappelletti in guinea fowl broth, roasted guinea fowl with peppers, and locally made panettone from the village baker. My spacious bedroom upstairs was extremely cozy.

Location

The neighbourhood

The nearest village Ranchio is 1km, dates back to the year 1000 and perches in a steep valley. It's only partly lived in during the winter but full of life in summer and has an excellent bakery and a local shop. The nearest restaurant is Civorio, 3.5km. There's a lovely walk from the house to a waterfall, perfect for picnics. Sarsina for big shops and lovely architecture is about 12km.

Introducing

Simone Griffi

Simone and his two brothers inherited the house from their parents. Simone's grandparents had a timber and charcoal business in the valley and this was the family home. He now lives in Cesena and is married with two children but he always greets guests, is friendly and attentive and can book trekking excursions or horse riding for you. The talented Aunt Marta usually cooks for you if you want.
