The Experience

Gracious, attentive hosts have renovated this peaceful old stone farmhouse with huge care. Each deeply comfortable room has a terrace with views of the valley below where sheep graze among the olive trees. The entrance and living space, with big rustic fireplace and separate sitting areas, stretch the length of the building; big, glazed sliding doors fill it with light and lead to the covered veranda. Wander out, take in the view and linger over breakfast, a beautifully presented spread of freshly cut prosciutto, cheese, eggs, homemade jams and cakes. Brick floors and beamed ceilings frame antique and more contemporary pieces, particularly in lighting and paintings (and the mini-fridges and safes). Splash about in luxurious bathrooms with travertine marble, rain showers, thick towels, monogrammed bathrobes and slippers. Once you’ve been suitably pampered, borrow a bike or head off on foot on the nearby Francigena pilgrimage trail; take the waters at Fiuggi; visit Medieval Anagni; hop on a train to Rome. The sea and Fiumicino airport are only an hour’s drive.

Stephen, Holmfirth

We had a wonderful week, in beautiful surroundings. Chilled Luxury Eye for Detail Dedicated. Knowledgeable and Caring Hosts We stayed 6 nights, I wish we'd have booked 16 This region of Italy is beautiful, the hill top villages, the history, the scenery, the food. The Casale is a superb venue to relax with beautiful views, stunning poolside, and marvelous treatments.

Judy, Harrogate

First class accommodation in a gorgeous setting with genuine and helpful hosts. Easy to get to from both Rome airports and ideal for an either "get away from it all" break or as a base to explore local towns, Rome or visit the Tivoli Gardens. The attention to detail and to the comfort of every guest is a real benefit from hosts Joe and Alana who are only too keen to share their love of the country and of the amazing food. I've stayed in some fantastic places around the world but this is up there with the best. I can't wait to return - and certainly plan to.

Joanne, Brentwood, Essex

Beautiful accommodation, set in breathtaking scenery. Hosted by Alana and Joe who ensure every detail is taken care of for your stay to be relaxing in total comfort. The rooms are cosy with everything if a good quality and lovely touches to give a home from home feeling. The pool area is wonderful with comfortable loungers and cabanas to gaze at the stunning scenery. You cannot fail to feel recharged, relaxed and very lucky to have stayed at beautiful Casale San Pietro!!

Ginny, Cheltenham

A beautiful place with every comfort you could possibly want. The owners could not have done more for their guests, really making us feel that we were staying in their home as friends. Nothing was too much trouble, every whim was catered for and they are just such genuinely lovely people. The food was also totally delicious. A really fabulous destination that I could not recommend highly enough

Sam, Orpington

I have found paradise!!! Had such an amazing time this weekend on the yoga retreat. It was a truly fantastic experience. I've always enjoyed coming home to my own bed......apart from this time round! I miss Casale San Pietro and all it has to offer. Alana and Joe are fantastic hosts and I can't wait to return. This is a place to visit with friends but I would happily visit by myself. A home from home and forever in my heart.

Local points of interest from Alana Mazza

  • AnagniEncircled by Roman boundary walls, this ancient and little-known town is also known as the ‘Città dei Papi’ (Town of the Popes). It is a historical centre in the Lazio region. It is a busy town with a great choice of restaurants and shops
  • Fiuggi is only 10km away, it is a super Spa Town, The Fonte is renowned throughout Italy, where people go and drink the water. It has a new part of Town with some exclusive shops a leading hotel of the world and it has an old town perched on a hill.
  • Alatri is a walled town on a hill, There are pre-roman walls and a magnificent Cathedral which towers above the acropolis. Great to sit and people watch in the lovely piazza
  • Only 1 hour away are miles of beautiful coastline, with some unspoilt seaside destinations, our favourite is Sper Longa, which an unspoilt and un commercial Positano, superb restaurants and the best ice cream in Italy in our opinion.
  • Valmontone - If you want some retail therapy only one exit on the A1 is a fab designer outlet, with some great Italian designers and across the road is Magicland which is an Italian disney, so disney for kids and disney for adults = shopping
  • ROME - The eternal City is only 45 minutes away, you can get a train from Anagni directly into Termini the centre of Rome, so close but far enough away to feel cooler in the Summer and the ability to also experience rural Italy
