The Experience

A jaw-dropper of a place to stay, just a short drive south of Rome and sitting right on the waterfront with teal green doors and shutters giving it a Greek island feel. The main living area is roomy, windows are huge and there is comfortable seating on all the terraces too, so everybody can spread out. Sunsets are sublime so open a bottle of wine and watch the golden orb slip into the glistening horizon.

The kitchen isn’t huge but is fully equipped and you can hire a cook, housekeeper and concierge if you’d rather not deal with details. Mostly you’ll be lazing in the garden among the rosemary, agave and bougainvillea, admiring the views of the sea, beach and mountains and feeling incredibly lucky to be here.

Bedrooms are sumptuous and characterful, each with a very smart bathroom and interesting vintage pieces. You’ll drift off listening to the sound of the sea – the most restful thing in the world.

We think you'll love

  • Stepping from your bed, down a path in the garden, onto the sand and then into the sea - a grand way to start the day
  • Long, lazy lunches on one of the covered terraces followed by a good siesta then maybe another swim
  • Watching the sun set over the sea with the mountains in the background - artists, writers and dreamers will be inspired

Reviews

A group of eight to 10 guests will be super comfortable in this stunning seaside villa positioned on the beach and looking onto the Circeo mountain to one side. A true jaw-dropper where you will take full advantage of the many en plein air spaces, take early walks along on 15km stretch of beach, ferry over to Ponza island, hike in the nearby park reserve, sip on a spritz on the front terrace at sunset.

Location

The neighbourhood

Sabaudia has 15km of Blue Flag coastline and you'll also find pedestrian paths, green areas and lifeguards. It's a 7km hop to San Felice Circeo port for shops and restaurants - eat and buy the freshest fish from Mariolino. In summer, the ferry runs daily to Ponza island and the National Park is stunning for walking and cycling. Hire a boat to tour the caves along the coast.

Local points of interest from Altea

  • Saporetti Lido at 400m away across the beach for an aperitif or dinner with a sunset view.
  • Trekking on Maga Circe for about 4 hours at sunrise or sunset.
  • Padel at the Baia d'Argento, few Km away by car, or by bike from home.
  • Afternoon or evening walk to the centre of San Felice Circeo, at the top of the mountain.
