The Experience

Salvatore is a brilliant cook. Tables are set up elegantly by Manuela in the courtyard for delicious breakfasts of freshly-squeezed juices, breads, tarts and cheeses, or omelettes and pancakes. Just ask. You can also have dinner on request which will combine Mediterranean and Eastern cuisine, or enrol on one of their cookery courses. Relax around the pool area, or out in the front courtyard on a sofa in the bamboo covered shade. Your privacy and peace are guaranteed.

On less than sunny days you can sit in the main living area with white walls and high ceilings giving a feeling of light and space. Bedrooms (one with a terrace, another with a private garden) are well-lit with pretty ‘cementine’ floor tiles; bathrooms have natural products, plastic free and zero waste.

The countryside is fairly flat round here, so it’s grand cycling and walking country – mainly olive groves lined with low stone walls. Return to an aperitivo in the aromatic garden.

Reviews

Palazzo Frangipane is the most beautiful, elegant small B and B. The rooms are simply and stylishly decorated, bedlinen superb, the quietest air conditioner and great shower. The pool is set in a small, lush and fragrant garden. Salvatore and Manuela are the most charming, helpful hosts who seem to genuinely like their guests and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is a feast!

Palazzo Frangipane oozes style and serenity. Its charm and elegance is underpinned by the generous hospitality of Salvatore and Manuela who made us feel so well cared for throughout our stay. The breakfasts are truly special and varied and on one evening Salvatore cooked a delicious three course feast using fresh local ingredients. Whether exploring local beaches, hiking along the coast or simply relaxing poolside, Palazzo Frangipane makes for the perfect Puglian escape.

I recommend this beautiful Palazzo situated in the quiet historic village- Salve. Manuela and Salvatore are the most generous, lovely people. They have created a haven of peace and relaxation. The Interior design of the Palazzo is exquisite and there is a charming garden surrounding the swimming pool with view towards the sea The food made by Salvatore is of an exceptional standard and Manuela makes the whole experience satisfying. Manuela and Salvatore are very special and they make the perfect hosts for this unique place to stay in the Salento region.

We stayed here in August 2022. We only planned to stay 3 days but wished we had booked a longer time. The palazzo is beautifully renovated with a divine garden and pool area. It is a wonderful refuge away from the busy bustle of the August crowds. Our hosts Salvatore and Manuela were very welcoming and made us feel at home from the start. Salvatore is an amazing chef. The breakfasts are a wonderful start to each day and the meal Salvatore cooked for us was superb. We will be back.

Absolutely stunning! We spent a week here and it was the perfect holiday. Salvatore and Manuela are wonderful and the service and attention given to us was second to none. The breakfast they provide is first class. All fresh food, with a wide variety of options. Salvatore also makes the best scrambled eggs! For 2 nights of our stay Salvatore cooked for us. Amazing! The Palazzo itself has beautiful décor and gardens. Our room. Scaletta, was beautiful, with a fantastic bathroom. Located in Salve, it’s a lovely small village, with charming buildings and people. Wonderful!

We had a lovely stay at Palazzo Frangipane. Manuela and Salvatore give a warm welcome and are excellent hosts. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the pool area / garden is beautiful and a great place to relax. They also do the best breakfast we had on our trip - it was absolutely delicious.

Fortunate guests will enjoy the attention and care (and Salvatore's culinary magic!) of these passionate hosts, who dove into their natural creativity to transform the property they searched far and wide for into an attractive, relaxing, and peaceful haven. With their guidance and knowledge, curious travellers will discover the southern reaches of Salento, spectacular coast, traditions and more.

Location

The neighbourhood

Salve has a few shops, a supermarket and several trattoria for a classic pizza, or many agriturismo nearby where you can have meals cooked with their own homegrown produce. Hire bikes, head to the coast for turquoise sea, hike the trails and cliffs at the very tip of Italy. Rent a boat and explore the jagged coastline, ducking into grottos and coves. Lecce is an hour away for the closest station.

Local points of interest from Salvatore & Manuela

  • The Palazzo is 4 km from Marina di Pescoluse, named "The Maldive of Salento", where you can swim in the cristal waters of the Jonian Sea.
  • Also you are near to the Adriatic sea, the rocky coasts, where you can rent a boat for a trip or diving to discover the wonderful caves from S. Maria di Leuca to Castro.
  • If you like walking or cycling there are nice tracks along the rocky coast, like the "Ciolo" path between Gagliano and Novaglie.
  • The "mine of Bauxite" is really a charming and amazing place. This small Grand Canyon of Salento is located in the hinterland between Otranto and the area of Punta Palascia. Punta Palascia is the easternmost point of Italy with his beautiful lighthouse.
  • The Wednesday market in Salve is full of scents and colours of fresh fruits and vegetables to buy and taste..... and much more!!
  • At our hotel, we organize dinners on reservation for our guests with local produce from the land and sea to introduce them to the wonderful products of the Puglia region.

Introducing

Salvatore & Manuela

Salvatore was born in Puglia but lived all his life in South Tirol, Manuela comes from the South Tirol as well. They decided to change lifestyles and livelihoods when they bought the house specifically to start running a B&B. They love greeting people from all over the world, delighting them with Salvatore's cooking and specialising in keeping things low key, relaxed and very hushed. They also bring to the table their passion for Bali.
