The Experience

Come for much peace and to immerse yourselves in natural beauty with glorious views over the northern Florentine hills – the landscape is stunning. The apartment interiors have retained exposed wooden beams painted white, some original terracotta floors, the odd antique, everything calm and simple. Bedrooms vary in size but all are comfortable and uncluttered with sweet views and en suite bathrooms.

You’ll find all you need in the well-kitted-out kitchens but you can opt for B&B if you prefer – Pecorino cheeses, hams, jams, breads and fruit tarts, locally produced  honey, all served in the breakfast room. Order lunches and dinners in the restaurant: homemade pasta, fresh local vegetables, traditional Tuscan dishes.

Laze in the pool, visit the spa for sauna, steam room and hot tub (at an extra charge), or set off on wonderful walks through the nearby woods with olive, cypress and centuries-old oak trees. The views across the valley stretch for miles.

Reviews

The Mugello area north of Florence is for those yearning for experiences of quiet exploration, ancient villages void of crowds, archaeological sites, artisan workshops, local food products, wine and artisanal beer producers. Come 'home' after a day of exploring to Stefano and Lisa's very comfortable and intimate resort with all the trimmings, a sunset aperitivo and an unforgettable Tuscan meal.

Location

The neighbourhood

Walks from the door will be sublime. You can walk half an hour to Dicomano for a Thursday market, the honey producers and excellent shopping. Explore the wonderful villages of Barberino (the artisan brewery), Borgo San Lorenzo (an alpaca farm and cashmere producers) and Vicchio, birthplace of Giotto and Beato Angelico, for some examples of extraordinary 14th and 15th-century paintings.
