The Experience

Italian design at its very best: the original 1930s tiles, the Murano chandeliers, the paintings, the beautiful staircase, fabulous pops of colour and clever lighting; you’ll feel inspired. There’s much warmth and comfort too with a gorgeous sitting room for reading or planning trips – coffee, teas and homemade biscuits at hand. Browse thousands of art books in the library, book a massage, or use the small spa.

Four bedrooms and one suite (in the loft) have lots of natural light, smooth linens, fluffy pillows and plenty of books; bathrooms dazzle with big showers, delicious-smelling soaps and lotions, bathrobes and slippers. Wake to homemade cakes and brioches, frittatas, cured meats and local cheeses – the menu changes seasonally and you need to choose from the menu the evening before.

The large terrace at the back overlooks the street and has a small pool. Listen to the birds, enjoy the mountain views, or take a short walk into town for a stroll along its narrow streets.

Reviews

Colin and Luisa provide such a calming place to escape and recharge. They have woven their passion and creativity into a stunningly beautiful setting and the result is that you immediately feel welcomed and also inspired to explore the fascinating territory. The wood fired oven and infinity pool are truly special amenities. Let Colin and Luisa help you experience a Tuscany, away from the crowds.

The farmhouse is situated high on the hillside which then allows spectacular views over to Pisa and the Med. Colin and Luisa were informative and gave us some good suggestions on places to visit. The farmhouse is comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. If you don't fancy cooking the local deli is excellent and there are good restaurants in the area. Try the Pizza oven if you feel adventurous. The outdoor patio is ideal for sitting out on warm evening and makes very enjoyable experience. The pool is an added attraction - if a little chilly in late September! Anji, Brian and John

First let me say that Luisa and Colin were wonderful host. The property is a little hard to get to, but it is very nice and has a wonderful view. The outside area is great for dining or for cocktails after a day of activities. It is nicely located between Pisa and Lucca and only about 50 minutes from Florence on the autostrade.
I would and will definitely recommend this place to my friends and family. Paul

Bellissimo!

We stayed in house no 1 & were delighted with our choice. Beautifully nestled on a hillside, amazing views across the countryside & leaning tower of Pisa in the distance.

House spotlessly clean-home from home plenty big enough for our 5. Challenging drive up mountain but well worth it! Relaxed under the pergola, sunbathing or by the pool. Wifi 5*-coped easily with iPads,iPhones and laptop! Easy reach of Lucca/Pisa/Florence by train or car. A magical stay with excellent hosts-there to help but not intrusive. Exceptional value and highly recommended-you will not be disappointed!

We rented the house for our first vacation in Tuscany. The house was exactly what we had expected - from the owners' description as well as the reviews. The drive up was a little nerve breaking, but it totally worth it once you get on top of the hill. The view is to die for - absolutely amazing! Luisa and Colin are very friendly hosts. We felt absolute privacy while staying at the guest house. The house was very clean and well equipped. We had everything we needed. It is about 20 min drive from the Tower in Pisa, 20 min drive to the center of Lucca and 30 min from the beach. We loved it!

Location

The neighbourhood

A guided tour is the best way of discovering why the Camonica Valley is such an important heritage site – one of the longest in the Lombard Alps and with the most stunning collection of ancient rock art. Bienno village, a 10-minute drive, is one of Italy's prettiest. You can ski in winter, there are festivals, harvests to join, and some wonderful restaurants serving Italian classics and ice creams.

Introducing

Colin Pilkington

The house has been in Evelina's family since 1920, when her grandfather bought it. He was passionate about art, and travelled the valley documenting churches and frescoes, paintings and architecture. Evelina and Enzo have restored sympathetically and sustainably, while keeping the lovely, homely feel.
