The Experience
Massimo and Lucia are a charming young couple, full of energy for their agriturismo adventure. The renovated farm sits on a hillside surrounded by olive trees, oaks, laurels and lavender, the main building houses the B&B, the attached one is for self-caterers, and the family lives just up the hill. All around: 170 acres of farmland and woods, and the sweet hills of Umbria. The hillside is quite steep but if you keep an eye on the toddlers, this is heaven for children. There are four ponies, two donkeys, one cow, goats, sheep, pigs, hens, a squeaky new play area and a beautifully landscaped pool – imagine diving into that on a hot day. The guest rooms and apartments are pleasant and spotless: floors newly tiled, beds of wrought iron, bedspreads coloured and patterned, and, for the B&B guests, a big comfy sitting room with books, cards, games, toys and an aromatic fire in winter. Dinners? They’re a highlight, delivered to long tables in the rustic dining room: rich pasta sauces, gnocchi and ravioli with black truffles, wild boar in season, Lucia’s almond biscuits… and seconds for everyone.

We had a fantastic week in the beautiful house and the breathtaking surroundings. Eating in with the other families every night and our kids playing until dark. The pool area is fantastic and the animals lovely. Prepare to do outings for lunch or buy food at a nearby village.

We just spent two weeks at Val di Boccio and can’t decide what we loved best - the fabulous dinners, walks in the idyllic setting, generous pristine pool, visits to feed the donkeys, the kids playground, the playful twin kittens? All came together to make a perfect stay for our young family. Many of the families we met come every year. Local shops are a short drive away and there are good facilities to prepare lunches and for laundry. With Covid restrictions a few changes were made to keep everyone safe but everything has been done to maximise fun and relaxation in breathtaking surroundings.
