The Experience

Heaven for wine lovers and foodies: a chic agriturismo that transforms the harvest from their vines and olive groves into fine wine and extra-virgin olive oil. The volcanic soil of the surrounding Euganean Hills is fertile stuff and you can forage for woodland berries, wild herbs and figs as you wander through the valley. It’s a bumpy ride up a winding lane, past medieval Villa Beatrice d’Este, to reach Le Volpi, but tranquillity and bucolic views await you at the top. B&B rooms and suites are spread across two old farm buildings brightened by racing green shutters. Charming Regina runs the family’s long-standing ribbon factory and her creative flair is evident in the elegant bedrooms; many bedsteads feature a carved pair of foxes (‘volpi’), while antique chairs are upholstered in vibrant fabrics. A couple of rooms have kitchenettes cleverly concealed in a wooden cupboard. En-suite bathrooms are stylish and contemporary, with showers and marble floors. Breakfast is a feast of pastries, fresh fruit and local honey served in the art-filled dining room or on the terrace. In the summer enjoy the infinity pool with valley views. Don’t miss the wine tasting!

Reviews

John, Dorking, Surrey

Breakfast was a ‘spoilt for choice’ selection of savouries and pastries even gluten for us. Mattia, was unfailingly helpful and shared his wine knowledge with us as we sampled Le Volpi’s cellar! Immaculate and generous apartment was incredible value. Very Sawdays!

stuart

probably one of the best Sawday's places that we have stayed in (over 20 so far!). The rooms were great (with great views) and the staff were brilliant even remembering to bake especially gluten free bread for me. The price was also brilliant for the accommodation. Highly recommended
