The Experience

Come to have your own private retreat in the heart of one of the world’s most majestic and enchanting cities, just a few minutes’ walk from all the main attractions. No one really knows the age of the house, but it’s surely 16th century judging by the frescoes, marble stairs, stucco and floors alla Veneziana.

Old world meets new in three canal-facing bedrooms with colourful fabric on antique chairs, headboards, framed prints, sleek reading lights and iron bedsteads with stacks of pillows and fine bed linen. Wake to a delicious breakfast of fresh croissants and breads from the local bakery, cakes, biscuits, yogurts, cereals and fruits. You’ll find a fridge in your bedroom if you want to store water or wine.

Step out to discover the real Venice – Eleonora can help you avoid the tourist traps, find the best restaurants and cafés, give advice on the perfect shops to visit – it’s like having your own personal guide to the city.

Eleonora “squeezed” us into her timetable and made a fantastic visit to Venice possible! Gondolas/Tenors directly under the window of the “pink room”: you could spend the whole day in the room. Space - bed - quiet and yet central - breakfast: very good and affordable! Crazy city, crazy days: go and experience! Fun & joy guaranteed!

Eleonora is a helpful, wonderful host. The B&B is good value & breakfast, room with bathroom overlooking a side canal. Plus the perfect location close to 'La Fenice', within 5" walk of Piazza San Marco & all the sights. Highly recommend.

Marianne/Denys, 85440 Saint Hilaire-la-Foret, Vendee, France

Old-world genuine charm combined with a wonderfully central position in the small canals behind the Opera. Host Eleanor is the best access to discovering Venice. Her wise and practical counsel led us to lesser known places and made our three night stay so very enjoyable. A place to which one wants to return.

Gill, Bournemouth

We stayed for four nights and really enjoyed our stay. Eleonora was very helpful from the start, even prior to arrival with info on catching the correct boat from the airport and restaurants to choose from upon arrival. She gave us lots of hints and suggestions on what to visit and ways of getting there. She is a true Venetian and it seems as if she knows everyone there is to know! To sum up, Eleanora’s B and B is exceptionally clean and tidy, offers a good breakfast to set you on your way, it’s a Venetian home in an ancient building and is thus a world away from the big hotels.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're never far from good food in Venice – bacari (traditional small bars and cafés) are scattered everywhere, and within a 10-15 walk you'll find some of Eleonora's favourite restaurants – try traditional fish risotto with a glass of local Veneto wine, the famous ombra. Canals and bridges are at every turn, with medieval, Renaissance and neoclassical facades reflecting centuries of history.

Local points of interest from Eleonora Agostini

  • Al Teatro B&B is perfectly placed in a quiet part of Venice, less than 5 minutes' walk from San Marco Square and all its attractions (shops, restaurants, cathedral, etc.) very easy to walk to off of the Vaporetto stop - no bridges!
  • Looking out the window of our rooms and seeing the gondolas go by added to the magic of the ambiance that was already perfect.
  • The breakfast is plenty choice of fresh fruits, toasts, biscuits, bread, cereals, yogurts, juices, jams, cold cuts of meat and cheese, coffee, tea, cappucino, hot choccolate, even cakes or croissants.
  • The wi-fi is free, reliable and works in all the B&B (rooms and common areas).
