The Experience
For four generations, Eleanora’s family have watched the gondolas and singing gondoliers glide by this bright palazzo opposite the Teatro La Fenice. No one really knows the age of the house, but it’s surely 15th century judging by the frescoes, marble stairs, stucco and floors alla Veneziana. Old world luxury meets new in three canal-facing bedrooms: colourful fabric on antique chairs, headboards, framed prints, sleek reading lights and iron bedsteads with stacks of pillows and new bed line. One room opts for the red velvety cube-style armchairs and a gold-framed mirror. The Green Room might just be the prettiest, and a glimpse through ephemeral curtains sees white cushions playfully fastened to an iron bedstead… all beneath a chandelier and eventually sliding onto the terrazzo floors of a state-of-the-art bathroom. That’s what works here: it’s smart and chic, but has the intimacy and pedigree of something smaller, grander. As well as managing three children, Eleanora greets each guest personally; over breakfast in the dining room is a good time to question this bona fide Venetian.

Delightful B&B with wonderful host. Over breakfast Eleanora gave us great advice for getting around, and was really helpful with any questions we had. Beautifully positioned behind the Opera House, and we heard evocative singing and accordion and guitar music from the gondolas below a couple of times during our short stay. We hope to return another time.

Fabulous B&B, would stay there again in a flash! Very nicely appointed and very comfortable, hostess Eleonora was extremely helpful. Terrific location on the corner of two canals, we spent hours watching life go by out the window. It's right in the thick of things and yet is in a quiet spot only a short walk to the vaporetto and many attractions.

Fabulous location, very comfortable room and genuinely charming and helpful hostess! Easy to find, even for a first time visit to Venice, the B&B is at the heart of the city. We were met on arrival and enjoyed quality advice and recommendations on dining and trips out ... do stay here, as we certainly would do so again ...

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Eleonora Agostini
- Al Teatro B&B is perfectly placed in a quiet part of Venice, very central less than 5 minutes walk from San Marco Square and all its attractions (Shops, restaurants, Cathedral, etc.) very easy to walk to off of the Vaporetto stop - no bridges!
- Looking out the window of our rooms and seeing the gondolas go by added to the magic of the ambiance that was already perfect.
- The breakfast is plenty choice of fresh fruits, toasts, biscuits, bread, cereals, yogurts, juices, jams, cold cuts of meat and cheese, coffee, tea, cappucino, hot choccolate, even cakes or croissants.
- The wi-fi is free, reliable and works in all the B&B (rooms and common areas).

This was our first time in Venice, staying at Al Teatro for three nights and Eleonora couldn't have been more helpful. She advised us on water bus schedules, restaurants, sightseeing and even helped us out in a crisis, going above and beyond expectations. The B&B is very clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom with a tub/shower. The cold breakfast was satisfying with many choices to ensure one doesn't leave hungry. Highly recommended.
