The Experience

This modern B&B is set in an apartment in an 18th-century building, and has stylish green painted walls and décor that pays homage to both its name and the waters of the Venetian lagoon.

Warm and friendly Margherita runs the place along with her sister-in-law Luana, and will happily share her Venice must-dos with guests. Breakfast is a buffet with cereal, fresh fruit, eggs, bread, muffins and brioche from the local bakery, served in the breakfast room or outside on a little terrace. A few steps lead from here to a rooftop terrace with 360-degree views – the views of the sunset over St Mark’s and the Doge’s Palace are magical.

You’re a stone’s throw from St Mark’s Basilica, the National Archaeological Museum, Palazzo Ducale and the Bridge of Sighs. There are great restaurants on your doorstep: Osteria Sepa in Calle della Bissa, a 10-minute walk away, has excellent cicchetti, or small plates; for an out of this world food experience try the Michelin-starred Venissa near the island of Burano.

Stylish boutique B&B with helpful, friendly caring owners. Super location, yet quiet and peaceful. The rooftop terrace is an absolute dream.

Location

The neighbourhood

The B&B is set on Calle delle Rasse in San Marco, and as the word 'rasse' in Venetian dialect refers to the woollen cloth which was used in the past to cover the gondolas, it’s likely that the artisans making the 'rasse' once lived in the building. The nearest water bus stop, San Zaccaria Danieli, is convenient not only for the airport but the island of San Giorgio Maggiore.

Local points of interest from Margherita Pagan

  • A good start with a rich breakfast on our terrace with a glimpse of the San Marco basin.Indulge in an aperitif on our typical Venetian "altana" terrace, with the lights of the sunset behind Doge Palace, just relax after exploring the city
  • If you want to visit the Biennale, our location is ideal, a short energizing walk with the lagoon next to you will lead you to the Gardens and the ancient Arsenal, the heart of the international exhibition of Art and Architecture
  • A short walk takes you to Rialto with its typical and lively market, appreciates the colors of the seasons on our typical foods and taste the typical Venetian cicchetti in historic taverns
  • The nearest water bus stop, San Zaccaria Danieli, is convenient not only for the airport but for Biennale Expositions and the islands of San Giorgio Maggiore and San Servolo (Venice International University) .

Introducing

Margherita Pagan

Margherita is Venice born and bred and trained as an architect. Luana, her sister-in-law, ran a boutique shop in Venice for many years. The family bought the apartment that now houses the B&B in 2014. As it had been lying empty for a long time, it took 18 months of painstaking renovation to get it to the lovely condition it is in now.
