The Experience
Quintamar sits in the Ria Formosa among lovely farmland. Trees surround yet you’re a 15-minute walk to a boat (summer only) or train to the sand-spit beaches – reputedly the finest in Portugal. Rent bikes from the neighbours and set off for the day; there are miles of coastline to explore.
Free-range meat and veg boxes can be purchased – cook up a delicious picnic and eat with a big grin on your face. Bird watching, dolphin spotting, paddle boarding and kite surfing will fill your days with memories that will last a very long time.
For late arrivals Tamar can leave you some breakfast supplies. There are heaps of seafood restaurants in the fishing village of St Luzia. Let the kids roam the wooden pirate ship, baseball pitch and sandpit whilst you rest your bones on a sun lounger next to the pool. If you fancy an evening sampling the restaurants in the nearby town, ask Tamar about her babysitting service.

Where to begin? The swimming lake is a good place! Such a beautiful and interesting swimming experience with big and small frogs and a myriad of colourful dragon flies and acrobatic birds swooping past. We had 8 children of various ages who absolutely loved the experience of swimming surrounded by croaking frogs and inquisitive peacocks. With so many children we were happy to find that Tamar was welcoming and relaxed about our inevitable noise- I was relieved that we had filled the cottages with our family group and could visit the play area, the pig and the pond whenever we wanted to!

Such a lovely and special place. We have visited several times over the years and it goes from strength to strength. The newer Quinta Pomar site is really perfectly set up for hosting events, and both sites are a great place to relax and unwind, surrounded by nature but with all amenities. Thoroughly recommended for a truly memorable and enjoyable stay and we hope to return soon.

Surrounded by flowers, peacocks and frogs in the beautiful natural swimming lake. My extended family stayed in all of the beautiful apartments, houses and summer house, it was just perfect to all be able to be together but have our own space as well. The setting is truly amazing and conveniently situated a short stroll from Santa Luzia. Tami, the owner was super. Nothing was too much trouble and she even welcomed us back when there was a power cut and our flight was cancelled! Would highly recommend. Kids of all ages and my family enjoyed every moment at Quintamar.

Location
The neighbourhood
Amongst olive and almond groves - you feel away from it all, yet you’re a ten-minute stroll to St Luzia with a choice of shops and restaurants. Sample the octopus; the town is famous for it! Next stop: Taviria for a day exploring cobbled streets on the banks of the slow-flowing Gilão River. Take the unique train ride across the river to Barril beach for a day among the sand dunes.
Local points of interest from Tamar Welti
- Unspoilt nature surroundings with walking tracks on the ecovia, which runs parallel with the coast along the length of the Algarve.. Beautiful wildlife, flora and fauna to be discovered
- Tavira, the pearl of the Algarve, within 5 minutes car drive away. Great fish restaurants and street cafes...Summer festivities include open air cinema festival in july and august, street theatre and live concerts plus many craft markets and fairs
- Beautiful unspoilt beaches awarded the 'blue flag' for cleanliness. Dunes and many kilometre stretches of white sand beaches, reached by mini train to Barril beach all year round or by small ferry to Terra Estreita Santa Luzia beach, from april to october
- Our organic farm products are sold in a local cooperative stall in the market of Tavira and can be ordered directly from the farm and delivered to your house or picked up.
- We currently have peacocks, pigs, ducks, chickens, turkeys, goats, sheep, pigeons, turtles, fish and cats....most of these live in the animal enclosure or at the farm, though the peacocks and fan tail pigeons are free and the cats live in the owners house
- Santa Luzia has great fish restaurants, mini supermarkets and cafes and bars and is within 10 minutes walk. Tavira is 30 minutes walk away. This area is ideal for walking and cycling. It is not essential to hire cars.

Introducing
Tamar Welti
Owner Tamar is happy to arrange yoga, scuba diving, dolphin trips, kitesurfing, small weddings and special events, bike hire and transport. She can also supply an organic hamper with a bit of notice.
Just returned from a fantastic family holiday at Quintimar. My two granddaughters loved feeding the pot bellied pig our food scraps each morning and evening. They soon made friends with the other children and they all spent many happy hours in the pond which made for a relaxing holiday for the grown ups! They soon accommodation was simple but comfortable and well stocked with kitchen essentials. They soon accommodation children enjoyed the toys and puzzles that were available. All in all it was a very relaxing holiday and definitely somewhere I would return to.
