The Experience
The problem with holidaying with young children is that few places answer your needs and theirs. This is different: Lorna and Lee’s 16-acre farm in the southern hills is a fabulous place for family holidays, or for couples wanting more privacy and taking both spaces together. The two purpose-built and simply styled cottages each have their own terrace, Netflix on the TVs, barbecue and great views.
The pool has a shallow area for kids, and toys, cots and baby gadgets galore, there’s a big suntrap terrace, a purpose-built play area, giant patio chess, table tennis and loads more. Join your thoughtful hosts for paella night once a week, and they are also happy to provide free babysitting for an evening during your stay, ferrying you to and from your chosen restaurant.
Lorna can do all sorts of relaxing beauty therapies; golf and fishing can be arranged nearby.

We had a wonderful stay and Lorna is an excellent host. The casitas are perfect for families and friends and the pool was very clean with recliners and towels provided. We loved eating sitting outside in the evenings enjoying the beautiful hills and stars. The attention to detail was great and all made for a very enjoyable stay. There is a lot to do nearby including hiking and lake swimming and Malaga only half an hour by train.

We had a fabulous week at the casitas. Two families with a casita each. Lorna was really accomodating, nothing was too much trouble. The scenery is beautiful and although Malaga is only a short train ride away you feel like you are away from it all. The casitas are very clean and have all you need for a comfortable stay. Local towns provide tapas and markets. We made good use of the pool and bbq for some memorable evenings. We would love to visit again soon.

Our third trip here, this time with my sister and family. The children (aged 12, 11, 10 and 9) didn't seem to leave the fabulous pool which allowed for plenty of relaxation for the adults. The casitas are spotless on arrival and Lorna supplies a lovely welcome pack of food/drinks. We enjoyed plenty of excellent tapas restaurants (Estacion de Cartama, Alora) and delicious local ice creams; the paella evening by the pool (cooked by Lorna and Lee) was also really special. Must-see places are the Alhambra, the lakes north of El Chorro, Malaga (old town and port). Wonderfully relaxing holiday...

Location
The neighbourhood
You are a 15-minute drive to the nearest small town, Pizarra, which has a cracking gastro bar, Los Pacheco and a good tapas bar at the train station. From here you can get a train to Málaga for a day out without the hassle of parking your car. Visit the famous Caminito del Rey, swim in lakes, paddle board or kayak. The nearest beach is 45 minutes, Ronda is one hour.
Local points of interest from Lee & Lorna Rickwood
- Nestled in the hills between the beautiful white villages of Alora and Pizarra. Cortijo Jacarandas rural location allows you escape the stress of everyday life by relaxing round the pool, admiring the amazing sunsets and adoring the breathtaking views.
- Whilst staying at Cortijo Jacaranda you can not only relax but not too far away there are a wide range of activities available ranging from golf, sea fishing and skiing to hiking and birdwatching.
- Take the train to Malaga, which is a lovely city to explore. It offers an abundance of history such as the Cathedral and Alcazaba. A wander around Malaga's new port is highly recommended. A hive of activity with bars, restaurants, shops and much more.
- The spectacular "Camino del Rey" suspended above El Chorro Gorge is only 40 minutes away. You can swim or take out a pedalo on the beautiful lakes at El Chorro. The historical towns of Ronda, Antequerra and Granada are easily reached by car.

Introducing
Lee & Lorna Rickwood
Lorna and husband Lee left Kent some 17 years ago and bought the Cortijo as a going concern. Lorna is a trained beautician and offers her guests manicures and pedicures as well as lifts, babysitting and general good cheer.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at cortijo - jacaranda in casita rose. The setting was beautiful with a panoramic view of the hills and countryside. The casita was very well equipped and spotlessly clean with piping hot water. There was a lovely welcome pack and Lorna was very helpful and informative. We visited the Ardales lakes for open water swimming and some wonderful walks and views. Malaga with its numerous museums, Cathedral and waterfront was a pleasant surprise, easily accessible on the train from nearby Pizarra. We ate outside every evening and enjoyed star gazing. A brilliant stay.
