The 1970s chalet-style building was given a facelift by a local architect in 2004 and the duplex penthouse has stacks of style, sweeping views and all you need to ski all day and collapse at night. There are soft sofas and flashes of cushion colour in the generous high-ceilinged living room; one sunny south-facing downstairs balcony where you can eat in summer. Floors are brushed oak, the kitchen is brilliantly equipped, bathrooms shine. Under chunky rafters, the compact bedrooms are deeply comfortable with built-in wardrobes, fluffy duvets, the best mattresses, wine-red wool carpeting and contemporary curtains. The master bedroom shares an east-facing balcony with the bunk-bedded room and... a stunning view of the National Park; the tiny mezzanine over the living space has beds for children. You are ideally placed for busy shops, bars and ski-lifts; a ski-booted hop away from the most sophisticated, far-reaching and interlinked skiing in the Alps and close to fishing, paragliding, golf and fabulous summer biking and hiking.
