These new arrivals are some of our most memorable finds of the year so far, chosen and championed by our team of inspectors, who know a good holiday cottage when they see one. Whether you're dreaming of coastal calm, hilltop hikes or a fireside hideaway, these favourites are a great place to start.
Rhuroin, Highland
Perched above Loch Shieldaig on a wooded headland, Rhuroin feels like you’re stood at the edge of the world. Inside, it’s full of thoughtful details and local artwork, Skye coffee, and a kitchen that’s as practical as it is peaceful. After days exploring the wilds, retreat to the bath with loch views or fall asleep surrounded by deep Highland stillness.
What our inspector says: “If I wanted to escape to a breathtakingly beautiful corner of the British Isles, far from civilisation, but with lovely owners nearby, to breathe fresh air, walk, swim (with a wetsuit) and feast on wonderful langoustine freshly fished from the loch in front of my house, I would adore to stay here.” – Nicky, Sawday’s inspector.
The Main House at Two Bakers Farm, Somerset
In one of Somerset’s prettiest villages, The Main House is a light-filled 17th-century gem with boutique touches and bags of character. Stylish interiors and good art create an indulgent space, but the feeling is warm and relaxed. A charming kitchen and sitting room give you the choice of eating in, or popping next door for a superb dinner at the pub.
What our inspector says: “Victoria and Alasdair have created something truly special at Two Bakers Farm. The Main House is beautifully designed for comfortable living, perfect for a relaxing escape. The Courtyard Wing at Penpont, Powys
Set in a grand country estate, this six-bedroom wing is a haven for families and nature lovers alike. Pick up produce from the on-site farm shop, wild swim in the river, chat to the friendly team at the on-site pub (open on summer Saturdays), or walk straight out into the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.
What our inspector says: “Penpont really is the Brecon Beacons’ best kept secret. Beyond the historic and characterful charm of the house and Courtyard Wing, the gardens and grounds are a joy to explore. From the ancient woodlands to the famous Greenman Maze, the estate is a haven for wildlife. Dip in the river, soak up the sauna or feast from the farm shop. Fallen Angel, Mousehole
Behind a row of traditional Mousehole cottages lies this romantic bolthole for two. The design is effortlessly modern, with an open-plan layout that invites the light and landscape inside. Huge windows overlook the bay, while a dreamy terrace built into the rocks gives you front row seats for sunrise, sea gazing and slow evenings with wine by the firepit.

Ivybank, Argyll & Bute
Looking out over the Kyles of Bute, this 1800s cottage has a timeless charm and plenty of thoughtful touches. There’s a wood-burning stove, a proper library full of nature books and local lore, and a sunny south-facing garden. Bedrooms up winding stairs are full of light and comfort, and the open-plan kitchen is a great place to gather, brew local coffee or plan the next walk.

Fairoaks – The Carthouse, Herefordshire
Set on a peaceful 600-acre estate in the Malvern Hills AONB, this airy converted barn is perfect for couples or small families. You’ve got your own private garden with wide open views, a communal indoor pool and spa to unwind in, and woodland paths for long rambles.
What our inspector says: “Fairoaks is a truly fantastic place to escape the daily hustle and bustle. There are endless opportunities for things to see and do, and the barns are not only beautifully designed but also really comfortable. The location and the views of the Malvern Hills are spectacular. Middle Farm & Cottages: Daisy’s Place, Shropshire
Down a winding country lane, this sweet bolthole on a Shropshire smallholding is a comforting mix of calm colours, bold rugs and oak flooring. Outside, there’s a firepit for warm evenings and a farm shop stocked with homemade meals and local meat for days you don’t feel like cooking. Walks, carriage rides and Shire horses await nearby.
What our inspector says: “A super little bolthole for frazzled city dwellers to escape to. Everything you need to decompress is in the cottage or immediately outside. And there’s a timeless pub a short stroll downhill. A country idyll of the highest calibre indeed.” – David, Sawday’s Inspector.
Nyth Fach, Ceredigion
This lovingly restored 18th-century nest for two is all wooden beams, soft light and quiet coastal charm. There’s a cosy hooded fireplace for evenings in, a Jacuzzi shower and underfloor heating, and a snug bedroom in the crog loft above. From your courtyard garden, watch the sun set over Cardigan Bay or wander the nearby coast path and explore secret coves.
