The Experience

You’re in the most beautiful part of Derbyshire; you could happily hole up here for weeks. All is deeply peaceful and comfortable in this fabulous barn conversion, with acres of fields to roam and your own garden to relax in. Find soft greys and lime plaster, lovely linen, latched doors and modern bathrooms (some baths, some showers). It’s the same in the stunning open-plan living area on the first floor with its amazing views and high vaulted ceilings.

Original local art adorns the walls, a wood-burner encourages lounging and cooks will be chuffed with the smart kitchen. The Clarkes – lovely people who live in the farmhouse – provide games, books, advice and logs. They’ll also leave you a homemade cake.

Nearby you’ll discover Peak District National Park walks, a good pub, Chatsworth House, Tissington, Haddon and Kedleston Hall.

Reviews

S Goddon

Six of us, 3 generations including 3 teenagers had a wonderful Christmas in Winnow Barn.It is in a beautiful situation, surrounded by countryside and walks, ( beautiful Dovedale is very close by).The accommodation is finished to a very high standard throughout with plenty of room for us all. Having 4 ensuites was a real bonus. The open plan living area upstairs was lovely with plenty of space for us all to relax together, enjoy Christmas, cook and entertain. We really appreciated the welcome pack, lovely lemon drizzle cake and the Christmas gift.It was a wrench to leave, but we hope to be back.

Helen, Towcester

Winnow Barns is in a lovely location. The configuration of the barn was perfect for a social family break. All the bedrooms being En Suite is great, the barn is well equipped, great layout and very comfortable beds.

Daphne, Richmond, Surrey

Winnow Barn is a beautiful and tasteful renovation, Andrea and John have done a fabulous job. The living space is upstairs, it is a beautifully decorated and the kitchen dining, and seating areas all complement each other perfectly. The log burning stove is a great centre point and was very well received by us after a long drive on a Friday night. Andrea left a welcome pack, with cooking essentials and Madeira cake, what a treat. All the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and every shower was excellent; linen and towels fluffy. Lastly, listen to Andrea her recommendations of pubs are brilliant!

Adrian, Royston Hertfordshire

Just what we expected and more. Wonderful accommodation with everything provided that you would require for a self-catering weekend. The kitchen top folder was packed with information about local facilities, walks, etc. The farm is in a beautiful part of the peak district, in our opinion, and we would happily go back again. Ps the barn's acoustics were wonderful for musical evenings (un-plugged!) and didn't disturb the neighbours.

Introducing

Andrea Clarke

Andrea and John Clarke took on the restoration job of a lifetime when they bought Damgate Farm fourteen years ago, swapping their professional careers in Sheffield for rare-breed sheep and converting dilapidated barns into three beautiful holiday lets. Now that their two daughters have flown the coop for university they’ve moved in a flock of rescued ex-battery hens and two donkeys, along with a host of other animals who call the farm home.
