Horry Mill

Peter & I enjoyed a relaxing stay at the very well equipped comfortable cottage. Sonia & Simon are engaging hosts welcoming us with fresh eggs, scones & cream & advice on places to visit (i.e. RHS Garden Rosemoor, Exeter etc.). Lots of walking through the surrounding woodland & identifying the local birds. Always ready to develop a new skill & under Sonia's tutelage, I bottle fed 2 calves during our stay. We hope to return & if possible with several of our grandchildren.

A truly beautiful cottage in a wonderfully tranquil location. Warm and welcoming, Horry Mill is the perfect base for exploring Devon or simply as a place to unwind and get away from it all. We visited for a few days in March, and after months of rain it could have been a dull, grey visit - but this couldn't be further from the truth! Warmed by central heating, a Rayburn AND a huge inglenook open fire the cottage couldn't have been cosier. Everything we needed was laid on and we were welcomed by a wonderful cream tea. Dog friendly, with walks literally outside the front door. Highly recommended

Returning for our second visit, we now understand why so many people have been coming back to Horry Mill for years, for generations – it gets under your skin, and there's nowhere else quite like it. We had a week off work, and we just couldn't think of anywhere we'd rather be. What makes it so special is that it's a real place, not an artfully conceived holiday experience. And at its heart is simple generosity - gorgeous baking and treats, big plentiful towels, sprigs of lavender in the wardrobe, unlimited logs in the woodstore. Please don't change anything. It's just perfect.

This is THE most delightful and characterful cottage, hidden away in absolutely stunning woodland - it's peaceful and utterly charming. We arrived to find a plate of delicious homemade scones and felt instantly at home. Sonia looked after us beautifully, the cottage was immaculate and comfortable with a really well equipped kitchen. We went for many wonderful walks from the cottage, and further afield on Dartmoor and to the coast. I couldn't recommend more highly. Thank you Sonia for everything including the fresh eggs and apples!

We had an amazing stay at Horry Mill, the house was charming, spotlessly cleaned, had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The bedding was so comfortable, huge bathtub for soaking. (Shower also available). Cosy sitting room with huge fireplace. Sonia left us a homemade tart that was devoured. We loved how peaceful it was, beautiful woods for us to walk in with running water from stream that meandered its way through the property. Highly recommend staying at Horry Mill!
