The Experience
It’s utterly peaceful and secluded at this wooden cabin. Circled by nine acres of wildflower meadows and mature trees, it’s a riot of colour in summer and teems with wildlife; grab binoculars and spot woodpeckers, goldcrests and finches. Stroll to the top of the hill for glimpses of the sea.
Inside all is comfy and cosy: a light-filled lounge with books and games, Netflix and Prime; a small but neat galley kitchen; a double bedroom overlooking the garden with proper linen and pillows; a shiny bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. It’s a lovely place to hang out after exploring Totnes, Salcombe or Dartmouth.
There are walks from the door, good cycling, and heaps of excellent foodie places to test; try Restaurant Twenty Seven in Kingsbridge for a gourmet experience. There’s good sailing, surfing and paddle boarding nearby. Eat on the deck, have a nightcap by the fire pit; stargaze across the dark skies, listen for owls.

A divine holiday destination. Heavenly situation in the heart of nature. No light pollution and one feels miles away from civilisation but in fact there is a garage five minutes drive away where there is a shop. The lodge is overwhelmingly well ordered with a divine bathroom and lovely kitchen ( fascinating coffee machine but would have preferred the space!) Beautiful muted colours throughout. As fit and active octogenarians we were wary of the short flight of steps from the parking area down to the lodge. A handrail would have been helpful! We are looking forward to our visit next year.

You are surrounded by woodlands with views across fields to the coast. Wonderful wildlife who live in the quietest haven are everywhere and it is a joy to just sit on the expansive patio and watch them. When you do venture out beautiful Devon awaits you with plenty of interesting places to visit and numerous restaurants and pubs of a very high standard. The hosts are lovely being helpful but not intrusive.

A beautiful property in a gorgeous location. Mark the host was great, after learning we were delayed due to problems on the route down due to flooding, he had switched on lights and heating and was waiting for us to help us unload and move in. The property is a wonderful place to chill and relax, which we did with everything to hand. The pheasants visited daily, and whilst we had rain every day we left relaxed and recharged.

It's difficult to follow the fulsome reviews that have been written by previous guests also fortunate enough to stay at this unique lodge. I fail to see it as a cabin - it is far too beautiful to attach that word to it. It is tastefully furnished and the ten days we were there we wanted for nothing -except sunshine. The outside space is gloriously quiet and surrounded by nature - we very much missed not being able to enjoy it due to wet weather. On one morning our treat was seeing a deer and her fawn just outside our window - later the same morning a grouse and her tiny, tiny babies.

Meadow Lodge was a rare find in a tranquil location offering complete peace quiet and relaxation. It was beautifully appointed and very tastefully decorated. Lovely soft towels and bath robes. There was lots of wildlife and wild birds in the extensive grounds. The location is perfect with plenty of country walks and lovely places to visit within a fifteen minute drive. Dartmouth and Kingsbride were particularly beautiful, to name just two...Julia and Mark were delightful and had lots of local knowledge about the local area and eating out. Look forward to returning soon...

Paradise can be anywhere you want it to be, sometimes you find can find it in the most unexpected place! We found one here at Meadow Lodge in the most beautiful of settings in the Devon countryside. To be surrounded by the sights and sounds of this most stunning valley is something you will fall in love with as soon as you set your eyes on it. The photos of the property certainly do it justice, but in reality you can only be simply astounded in what you see. Mark and Julia are the most wonderful hosts, and certainly take so much pride in presenting this to everyone who comes and visits.

Introducing
Julia & Mark Marshall
Julia is a film producer, writer, documentary maker and keen cook, and Mark is now also a writer, having previously travelled the globe for work with his binoculars always near to hand – he’s an avid birdwatcher and student of butterflies. They moved here from Oxfordshire in 2012 and live in the big house on the estate. You can’t see this from the cabin, but they’re on hand should you need anything.
We recently returned from a glorious autumnal week in this beautiful lodge. Tucked away in a beautiful setting, enveloped by trees and surrounded by nature, it is indeed the perfect place to get away from it all. There are so many interesting things to see and do and all within a very short distance of the accommodation. The lodge itself is bright, spacious and comfortable and the hosts very welcoming. We were very lucky with the weather but even if it had been seriously inclement we would have felt happy to stay indoors and enjoy the tranquility. Somewhere to return to again. Thank you!
