The Experience
Designed by William Burges, one of the great architects of the Arts and Crafts movement, this handsome Victorian cottage is full of history and character. It’s been in the same family for nine generations, and you can feel that care and continuity the moment you arrive. Antique pieces, family artwork and thoughtful touches make it feel warm and welcoming.
You’ve got everything you need for an easy stay. The neat kitchen is small but well-equipped, and the cosy sitting room has a wood-burner, TV, books and games for quiet evenings in. Upstairs, two pretty bedrooms under the eaves – one double, one that can be made up as a twin or king – have lovely views over the Cotswolds and the Severn Vale. There’s a shared bathroom downstairs with underfloor heating.
Outside, all is quiet, the peace only broken by birdsong and the occasional peal of church bells. Footpaths from the garden lead straight into open fields.

We think you'll love
- Being in a tranquil, rural destination, but so close to towns for culture and shopping
- The history of the house – the guestbook compiled by Anabel, the owner, is a mine of information
- A lovely welcome basket with biscuits, coffee and a postcard of the church next door's stained-glass windows
You should know
- You can load and unload in front of the house, but parking is down the hill
- There might be guests in the cottage next door, and you share a front garden – both cottages can be taken together for bigger groups (there's an interconnecting door)
- The stairs to the bedrooms are steep and narrow
