The Experience
We know what you’re thinking: Skegness?! But this creek is a secret locals-only area and the cottage is beach-hut perfect. Step inside and take in the sea views; even better from the decking and bedroom terrace. It’s small – open-plan living area and the beach room downstairs, under-eaves bedroom and bathroom upstairs – but light and breezy with a nautical, aqua-and-stone theme.
A wood-burning stove keeps the living area cosy while the compact kitchen is well-equipped for simple cooking. You won’t draw the blinds in the bedroom – rustic chic with tongue-and-groove panelling; the bathroom with its slipper bath is sweet and sparkling. There’s a small cabin bedroom for two children downstairs but this is really a hideaway for two – or a creative soul with a novel in them.
Take long walks on the beach (there’s a handy outdoor shower and dog-drying area), birdwatch, paint, eat fish and chips from the café and watch the sun set.

Total relaxation. This is my fourth stay at Beach Cottage Stunning vistas from both balconies of just dunes, sand and sea. Some dog walkers around but mostly empty beach this week. A place to relax, read, walk maybe drink wine. Very well equipped and tastefully decorated . No light pollution so good for stargazing. Just lovely

Our weekend at Beach Cottage, in the company of Storm Amy, was an absolute tonic. We had fallen in love with photographs of the wonderful open views of the sea and the reality was even better. What we also loved was the contemporary stylish design, immaculate maintenance and comfortable bed. Two loos is always a brilliant plus. Basically we loved everything.

We very much enjoyed our long weekend at Beach Cottage. The location was fantastic, with the floor to ceiling windows looking out on to the beach and sea and the ever changing weather! We enjoyed fish and chips from the van and coffee from the cafe plus being able to go for walks straight from the cottage. The location was good for exploring the Lincolnshire Wolds as well as venturing further up the coast. We especially liked the app with all the information that we would need for a perfect stay!

Location
The neighbourhood
The local shop has most of what you'll need but you're just three miles from the pretty town of Chapel Saint Leonards. There are three nature reserves within a mile which support many birds, you can walk to the North Sea Observatory at Chapel Point or visit the year-round Seal Sanctuary and Conservation Centre. Eat locally caught fish and chips at Waldo's in Sutton on Sea. Louth is half an hour.
Local points of interest from Emma Milligan-Manby
- Take a lovely walk up the beach to Sandilands and have lunch in the Fat Seagull Cafe, the North Sea Observatory at Chapel Point or The Boatshed at Huttoft. We recommend checking individual cafe opening times. There are 3 Nature Reserves within a mile.
- Eat fish and chips at Waldo's in Sutton on Sea and don't forget to leave time to visit Knik Knaks the antiques and bric a brac emporium. Alford is a traditional market town with it's beautiful Manor House, Pottery, Working Windmill and Craft Markets.
- Visit Gunby Hall one of Lincolnshire's very few National Trust properties. Golfers can enjoy the challenges of the Seacroft links course, or North Shore Golf Club. Louth is a bit of a must too, with its beautiful parish church, market and foodie shops.
- Skegness offers a water leisure park, Seal Sanctuary and Fantasy Island, Church Farm Victoria Museum, Circus, Laser Quest, and Bottons Pleasure Beach. Ride at equestrian centres in Sandilands or Hogsthorpe or visit the Northcote Heavy Horse Centre.
- Visit Claythorpe Watermill and Wild Fowl Gardens, the working windmill at Burgh le Marsh, play on the giant scalectrix at the Mumby Model Car Museum. Or take a slightly longer trip to the Lincolnshire Aviation Centre or Bateman's Brewery at Wainfleet .
- In November and December don't miss the baby seals at the Donna Nook Seal Colony or visit the all year round Seal Sanctuary and Conservation Centre in Mablethorpe. Travel to the Gibralter Point Nature Reserve and cafe and visit the Cloud Bar in Anderby.

Introducing
Emma Milligan-Manby
James and Emma own Manby Farms, an arable and suckler cow enterprise at Thorganby Hall Farm, where James's family have farmed for over a hundred years. They are part of a Mid Tier Stewardship scheme, passionate about their eco credentials, sustainable farming and low energy consumption. Owl boxes, bat bricks, rainwater harvesting and solar panels are also a major part of their journey.
Winter getaway. On top of the accommodation being excellent, listening to the sea was magic and laying in bed looking out at the night sky was a rare treat.
