The Experience

We know what you’re thinking: Skegness?! But this creek is a secret locals-only area and the fisherman’s cottage is beach-hut perfect. Perched above dunes, its sky-blue colour makes you smile. Step inside and take in the sea views; even better from the decking and bedroom terrace. It’s small – open-plan living area and the beach room downstairs, under-eaves bedroom and bathroom upstairs – but bright and breezy with a nautical, aqua-and-stone theme. Wood-effect tiled floor, driftwood furnishings and wood-burning stove keep the living area cosy while the compact kitchen is fine for simple cooking. You won’t draw the blinds in the bedroom – rustic-chic with tongue-and-groove panelling; the bathroom with its slipper bath is cute and sparkling. There’s a small cabin bedroom for two children downstairs but this is really a hideaway for two – or a creative soul with a novel in them. Take long walks on the beach (there’s a handy outdoor shower and dog-drying area), birdwatch, paint – or write that book. Eat fish and chips from the café and watch the sunset from your decking or the tiny garden’s romantic summerhouse.

Reviews

It was our 2nd trip and as fabulous as we remembered... the 3rd trip is already booked :) The world can often be hectic and its pace tiring - there is just something very grounding and quite beautiful about simply sitting and watching the waves, taking in the sounds and the sea-air love this place

Our stay at Beach Cottage was just a perfect way to welcome in the New Year. It was relaxing and resorative, in a perfect location overlooking the vast sky and sea. It was a haven from life and world events, a place to recharge, reconnect and come away revitalied. The cottage is elegant, warm, comfortable and with all the ammenities you would expect. I cannot recommend a stay highly enough if you can get in, it is often booked months and months ahead - which is no surprise as others must feel as we do, one of the best breaks away we've had. Thank you.

A total delight, this is everything you want from a little seaside cottage. A great location and beautiful views, in a stunningly comfortable home from home.

Beach cottage is perfect if you want to wake to the sunrise with unbroken views of dunes and sea, walk on endless coastal paths and watch the moonrise every night. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable for a couple, with the deep quirky bathtub and the wood burner as special winter highlights. A wonderful recharge. Highly recommended.

Beach Cottage is like a dream I once had: living on a beach with views over the sea, sunsets and sunrises every day and wonderful walks just a step outside the door. We absolutely loved our week there and didn't want to leave.

Beach cottage is a place you come to recover from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The location is perfect with stunning, therapeutic views across the sand dunes to the sea. Walks from the door, in either direction, are wonderful and which ever way you choose you will come across a coffee shop.... The cottage is very cosy, well equipped and the bed is very comfortable. There is nothing nicer than spending the day out walking and then coming back to light a fire and chill with a glass if vino. Emma and James have thought of everything and ...ensure you have the best stay. Thank you both!

Kathryn

The most perfect Christmas hide-away and the best nights sleep we have had in a long time, huge comfy bed and nothing to hear but the lapping waves in the distance. The cottage is wonderful, comfortable and cozy and we will Definitley be going back there!

We stayed for a relaxing break in January 2019 and had a lovely stay at this beautiful coastal retreat. We were lucky with the weather and had nice walks and fish & chips at Waldos! The cottage is well appointed and superbly located right by the beach and is the perfect size for 2 people and a little dog. We really can't fault our stay at Beach Cottage and would highly recommend to anyone considering a peaceful break on the East Coast. We will be back later in the year when the weather is warmer to make the most of the outside space and enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony...

We stayed at Beach Cottage for the New Year and had the most relaxing, enjoyable stay - probably the best New Year yet. This is a beautiful cottage in a fantastic, get away from it all location. We stayed in the summer and decided it would be perfect for a winter break too. It wasn't really cold enough to need the log burner lit however we did it anyway and it further enhanced the lovely cozy feel of the place. Have got another week booked for the summer and next New Years too - it's that good! Thanks for sharing your beautiful cottage.

Local points of interest from Emma Milligan-Manby

  • Take a lovely walk up the beach to Sandilands and have lunch in the Fat Seagull Cafe, the North Sea Observatory at Chapel Point or The Boatshed at Huttoft. We recommend checking individual cafe opening times. There are 3 Nature Reserves within a mile.
  • Eat fish and chips at Waldo's in Sutton on Sea and don't forget to leave time to visit Knik Knaks the antiques and bric a brac emporium. Alford is a traditional market town with it's beautiful Manor House, Pottery, Working Windmill and Craft Markets.
  • Visit Gunby Hall one of Lincolnshire's very few National Trust properties. Golfers can enjoy the challenges of the Seacroft links course, or North Shore Golf Club. Louth is a bit of a must too, with its beautiful parish church, market and foodie shops.
  • Skegness offers a water leisure park, Seal Sanctuary and Fantasy Island, Church Farm Victoria Museum, Circus, Laser Quest, and Bottons Pleasure Beach. Ride at equestrian centres in Sandilands or Hogsthorpe or visit the Northcote Heavy Horse Centre.
  • Visit Claythorpe Watermill and Wild Fowl Gardens, the working windmill at Burgh le Marsh, play on the giant scalectrix at the Mumby Model Car Museum. Or take a slightly longer trip to the Lincolnshire Aviation Centre or Bateman's Brewery at Wainfleet .
  • In November and December don't miss the baby seals at the Donna Nook Seal Colony or visit the all year round Seal Sanctuary and Conservation Centre in Mablethorpe. Travel to the Gibralter Point Nature Reserve and cafe and visit the Cloud Bar in Anderby.
