The Gatehouse Lodge

The Gatehouse Lodge at Easton was the perfect place for me to stay for a few days. It has been sensitively and most attractively restored to the highest standards and has a homely, welcoming atmosphere. The carefully chosen produce available on arrival (including locally baked bread and home-made cake, locally produced elderflower drinks plus wine, sloe gin and butter) was a lovely, unexpected touch and set the tone for a very special few days. It is a privilege to be able to walk straight out from the Gatehouse Lodge into Easton Walled Gardens.

My daughter and I just returned from a two week visit to England, we stayed at the Gatehouse Lodge for four nights. It was ideal as both a venue for us to explore from and also the accommodation. While the building was old and quirky, which we like, it had everything modern and new that we needed. A delightful, home from home. I purchased a home made coffee cake from the store beside the garden shop, the cake was delicious, the best value of anything we bought during the entire trip.

The Gatehouse Lodge was a fabulous holiday base. All communication before the holiday was excellent. The lodge was beautifully furnished and well equipped. Having the extra access to the gardens was wonderful.

The Gatehouse Lodge is a lovely place to stay, so relaxing. The decor and furnishings are in keeping with the building. There is a real feeling of welcome, with the items which are provided such as bread, milk...and wine! Going into the gardens at any time, and just "being" is what I like best.

This is a lovely, compact gatehouse. While small, it has everything a couple needs, the facilities are first class and the layout makes excellent use of the available space. The real trump card, though, is the after hours access to the gardens. We were lucky to have wonderful weather which made our 'private' gardens a wonderful extension of the house. The chilled white wine took a battering! Very interesting places to visit around and about include Isaac Newton's boyhood home (including the apple tree - highly recommended) .
