The Experience
With squashy seating, a cheering wood-burner, binoculars, books and a film on the smart TV you couldn’t fail to feel buoyant indoors. A nifty mix of mid-century furniture, modern lighting and eclectic art will inspire – nothing is uniform, all is pleasing to the eye.
Bedrooms (both king size, one up, one down) are serene with linen throws, more artwork, crisp reading lights and books – both have sparkling en suite bathrooms with toasty underfloor heating, one with a walk-in shower, the other a swanky bath with shower over.
The kitchen will please the fussiest of cooks (sharp knives!) and in summer you can eat al fresco on the decking or picnic on the lawn, rustle up a sizzling pizza in the wood shed, or cook the perfect steak on the Big Green Egg. Stride the Cheviot Hills, head to castles or coast, return to big star-filled skies and the telescope, or simply chill by the fire pit feeling lucky to be here.

We think you'll love
- Coming with another couple and walking for miles through such romantic countryside, returning to light the wood-burner and open the wine
- Coming with little ones in tow for saying hello to the Pygmy goats, enjoying tractor rides, heading to the coast for fab beaches and boat trips, spotting seals
- Spending time indoors watching birds and wildlife, quietly absorbing the views and the peace
You should know
- The stairs to the upstairs bedroom could be tricky for the wobbly
- It's a fairly dull walk along the road into Lowick – most folk take the car
- The wood shed is a shared space with guests from The Granary

Location
The neighbourhood
Walk a mile and a half to join St Cuthbert's Way and visit Cuddy's Cave. There is safe bike storage and some good mountain biking trails nearby. Lowick is a four-minute drive for one of those village shops that sells everything including great home-baked goods. Wooler is ten minutes and has a deli and cheese shop plus a whisky distillery. Visit Cragside and Alnwick Castle, or head to Berwick.
Local points of interest from James & Katie Kemp
- Wander through 13 acres of wildflower meadows, woodland and a tranquil lake - an ideal escape for weary city souls seeking calm and space.
- On the coast within easy reach: drive to Holy Island or Bamburgh for a dreamy Northumberland beach & castle-town combo.
- After dark, our sky transforms - enjoy magical stargazing (and with luck, even the Northern Lights) from our fields, with telescopes ready for you to explore the cosmos.
- Wildlife lovers: spot roe deer at dusk, hares in the meadow, barn owls, pheasants, and a variety of birds right on the property - binoculars and guidebook provided.
- Cook under the stars: light up the outdoor pizza oven or fire up the Big Green Egg, then dine al-fresco in peace - the perfect contrast to rushed city routines.
- Bring your dog (or your children's sense of adventure): with wide woodlands, a paddock full of wildflowers and room to roam, it's a nature-lover's joy for guests of every age.
