The Experience

This immaculately finished property is well-designed and equipped for a large group or family celebration, and is great for adults and kids alike – fun extras include a music corner with record player and records, and two retro games machines (Pac Man and Space Invaders).

The main living area and some bedrooms are on the first floor, with the rest of the bedrooms below, and there’s a useful boot room for wet gear. Admire the spectacular countryside views from the hot tub set under a cherry tree on the terrace, or sit at the table and enjoy the sunset with a drink.

Adventurous activities you can book on the estate include hovercraft, axe throwing, clay shooting and archery. A welcome hamper is provided with milk, fresh bread, butter, jam and fruit, and you can cook together in the state-of-the art kitchen, choose from several restaurants at the hotel, or head to Chipping Campden or Broadway, only a five-minute drive away.

Reviews

The Hoot has been immaculately renovated and will appeal to groups and families of all ages. Guests have all the space and privacy they need with a super kitchen/dining room for self-catering, yet there's the added benefit of being just an easy stroll to restaurants at The Fish hotel if no one fancies cooking. The views are spectacular too.

Location

The neighbourhood

Farmcombe Estate sits just off a main road that leads towards Chipping Campden and is surrounded by Cotswold stone walls, gently rolling hills and grass and arable land. Chipping Campden was formerly an important hub for the wool trade, and Broadway is an equally charming Cotswold village with some good restaurants and a deli, and you can jump aboard the heritage steam train to Cheltenham.

Local points of interest from The Team At Hillside Hangouts

  • Head to the local village of Broadway. The picturesque village and high street, watched over by the imposing Broadway Tower, offers boutique stores, antiques shops, galleries, museums and cafes.
  • Head to Broadway Tower. Breath-taking views across 16 counties. Designed by Capability Brown, this iconic Cotswold landmark is set within 200-acres of parkland, next to a café and a nuclear bunker to explore – a relic from the Cold War.
  • Head to Daylesford, an Organic farm shop and cookery school. Daylesford farm shop offers fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables from its organic Market Garden, along with exclusive items for the home and garden.
  • Head to Honeybourne Pottery. A family-run business, where Alan and Annabel Cusack, create their beautifully crafted tableware range and offer workshops, taster classes and bespoke events.
