The Experience
Steeped in history, the Yorkshire village of Crayke was named in the Domesday Book. Today, it’s known for its award-winning gastropub The Durham Ox, where you can linger over a pint of cask ale while you pick up the keys to your lovely bolthole. Ivy Cottage is the latest venture of Michael and Sasha, the pub’s charming owners, and their experience of hospitality shines through as soon as you step through the door.
Comfy sofas and chairs surround an open fire in the homely sitting room, while light floods into an airy kitchen with a farmhouse table for six. French doors open on to a neat garden where you can sip a glass of wine as the sun goes down. Sleep beneath old, vaulted beams at the top of the house, or in two bright rooms with finely dressed beds on the first floor. Spotless modern bathrooms are stocked with fragrant L’Occitane products.
Hire bikes or walk through the glorious Vale of York.

Lovely character cottage in a beautiful location. Roomy cottage great for up to 6 people. Fantastic, quality facilities for a comfy stay. Durham ox pub is a lovely village pub with fab food (defo recommended the chateaubriand). What makes it even better is that it is dog friendly. Will definitely be back and highly recommend.

We were visiting North Yorkshire for a birthday and with various events spread over a long weekend we needed a good location. Crayke and particularly Ivy Cottage was a fantastic location from which to visit all the key places we needed to visit. The Cottage itself was just lovely and could easy accommodate all of us and dogs. Comfy beds and great views at breakfast - brilliant. If you don't want to cook you can nip up the road to the Durham Ox pub where there are lots of options. Thanks

Ivy Cottage is a perfect place to spend a few days with friends. The beds are really comfortable and the garden is perfect for a morning coffee and for the dog to pop out - the kitchen is lovely and everything is perfectly thought out - The Durham Ox is only a minute’s walk away for dinner. Really great! We’ll definitely be back.

Introducing
Sasha Ibbotson
Mike has owned The Durham Ox for over 25 years. He and Sasha make a great team – she from Somerset, he from Yorkshire – a good example of North and South coming together. They've both always worked in hospitality and are passionate about what they do and bringing the local community together.
We had the most fabulous stay in the pool villa in mid August. The quality of the villa is top class, beautifully furnished and completely private. Inside there are 2 super king bedrooms and a living room area with a bar. The hot tub and garden is lovely too. We would absolutely recommend this to anyone whether a young family (like ourselves) or two couples. The pub onsite is also great, serving a delicious breakfast that was included in the price. We ate our evening meals here too as it was so convenient and worth it.
