Western Isles

The wild and remote Western Isles, also known as the Outer Hebrides, have a romantic and elemental beauty to them. Found lying off the northwest coast of Scotland, there are over 100 islands stretching along a 130-mile archipelago jutting out into a tempestuous sea. Only a handful are inhabited. Most visitors stay on Lewis and Harris (two parts of a single island, although often described as if they are separate islands), North Uist, Benbecula and South Uist, all connected by causeways, and Barra. The landscapes are heart-stopping, the wildlife impressive and you’ll barely see another soul from your cosy and rather special place to stay.
