The Experience

Impeccably restored by the Duchy of Cornwall, a quadrangle of 17th-century stone farm buildings reveal their ancient history. You’ll arrive feeling uplifted as beautiful wildflower meadows and woodland views unfold, and there are more treats inside.

Soft colours and gentle lights create a soothing atmosphere. Underfloor heating keeps you snug while a blend of artwork and ceramics, antique and modern furniture shows off understated quality and elegance. Two bedrooms with Egyptian cotton on Hypnos beds and smart private bathrooms overlook the colourful grounds while a roomy kitchen is generously stocked with homegrown and local treats: apple juice, bread, eggs, fresh flowers…

Step outside to your private garden and the lavender-scented inner courtyard. Then, roam the wildlife-rich 190-acre estate with its walled garden, plethora of apple trees and traditional hedges, and catch glimpses of the Fan Foel and Pic Du peaks.

Reviews

It was hard to leave this beautiful place, the land seems to draw you in and cocoon you. So come and find clarity whilst walking on the wild Cambrian Way. Then return to this ancient complex, sensitively renovated by a very caring owner, to enjoy the calm, elegant spaces with loved ones. There is much to do locally as well, although many never stray too far. A rare place in a dramatic landscape.

Location

The neighbourhood

Llandovery (four miles) has a good selection of pubs, cafés and shops plus a small castle and a statue of Llewelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan, the Welsh resistance fighter. The Heart of Wales Train line and Trail runs through here too. Llandeilo is 10 miles for excellent shops and galleries while Wright's Food Emporium (20 miles) is a local favourite. The Cambrian Way is close for dramatic walks.

Local points of interest from Boudica

  • Wrights Carmarthenshire - They focus on local and seasonal produce, bake their own bread and cakes, and offer a selection of things they like to drink.
  • Dinefwr - Newton House is a 17th-century manor house with exhibitions and contemporary interventions reflecting on varied aspects of life at Dinefwr, connected to the formal Fountain Garden with the wild Deer Park beyond.
  • Myddfai Community Hall and Visitor Centre Is an energy efficient facility in the heart of the picturesque village of Myddfai, three miles from Llandovery in Carmarthenshire, surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
  • Llyn y Fan Fach is a lake of approximately 10 hectares (25 acres) on the northern margin of the Black Mountain in Carmarthenshire, South Wales and lying within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
  • Cilgwyn Wood - Tucked away in a rural corner of Carmarthenshire, Cilgwyn Wood is very easy to find from Llandovery. This peaceful woodland has a lovely mix of different trees, including large Douglas fir, old beech and spruce.
