Glan yr afon

Magical – a beautiful and cosy cottage with a lovely big garden beside a bridge over a stream. Just inland from coastal walks on Cardigan Bay. We were warmly recommended Glan Yr Afon by friends and will pass the favour on. And we hope to be back.

Had the best stay in this beautiful cottage, loads of things to do near by and also just nice to stay in with the fire on and playing games or read a book, would come back again.

The most beautiful place to take time out. The cottage is filled with history but has been brought bang up to date in the most considered way. Top class comfort and style. Plenty to do nearby, but equally lovely to read a book by the fire.

We had an amazing stay at Glan yr Aron. The cottage has been renovated to such a high standard whilst ensuring the building has retained its character. There is everything you need during your stay. Beautiful furnishings and the cottage is so cosy. The garden is beautiful, so relaxing and peaceful. James & Gemma are excellent hosts and made sure our stay was perfect. A lovely welcome pack was left with Welsh treats. Very appreciated. We will definitely be returning. We regularly stay at lots of different holiday cottages and this is one of the best!

We stayed in Glan yr afon, near Cardigan, for our honeymoon. The cottage was wonderful and so pretty, it was beautifully furnished with wooden beams, other period features and absolutely everything we needed. It stands in a gorgeous garden, even in February we were able to sit on one or other of the many benches and enjoy the birdsong and sound of the river which runs through the garden. It was a perfect location for a honeymoon and we will definitely go again. Ps. The welcome pack was very generous and also Gemma had left a lovely card for us.

With frosty mornings and a dusting of snow, we couldn’t have asked for a more magical stay. The cottage was warm and inviting, a perfect size two. We enjoyed walks and drives to the nearby beaches and hot toddies by the fire pit. Gemma and James were very accommodating and responsive when we got a little iced in. Highly recommend a stay at this picturesque thatched beauty.

We had a wonderful stay at Glan yr afon in Penbontrhydyfothau, Ceredigion. The cottage is extremely clean and very comfortable. The garden is lovely and has lots of places to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet. A very special place.

Lovely Thatched Cottage in its own little forest valley with stream in Garden next to quiet country lane. Beautiful garden with carefully placed seats to enjoy garden, wildlife and bird song (at eight time of year). The hosts are really amenable and helpful with a lovely welcoming package. Cottage has decent size bathroom, bedroom and living space with large kitchen dining area including modern utilities. There is an easy forest walk to small cove or longer walk into Llangrannog. Worth a visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner and beach. Also recommend New Quay as this has lovely beach and vibe

A truly wonderful place. The cottage is just perfect with everything you could ask for a relaxing holiday. The grounds and surrounding area are so peaceful.

This is a magical place! We arrived as light was fading and just after a bout of very heavy rain, so the river was swollen and there was a lot of water running down the ancient lanes that lead to the village. As soon as we opened the door, we felt cocooned in comfort and surrounded by character. The historic cottage has been brought back to life with such care and sensitivity. The welcoming touches were greatly appreciated, and we had everything we needed for a very relaxing stay. The walk along the coastal path from Llangrannog towards Aberaeron was fabulous. We'll be back!

What a perfect retreat. The house is stunning, beautifully furnished with really lovely homely touches and the welcome pack was fab. The garden is on several levels and full to the brim with flowers. A favourite was sitting there listening to the stream and reading a book. The area, Ceredigion, is stunning. Beautiful rolling hills and stunning cove beaches. We didn't do much because of Covid but if you want a quiet, beautiful and relaxing break look no further. James and Gemma were also so kind answering a number of questions. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or to return... thanks so much!

Genuinely as amazing all the reviews said! An amazing oasis; we feel totally recharged. We'll certainly be back!

Stayed four glorious nights. It rained, it was windy but we were snuggled up in our beautiful hideaway. Blue flag beaches, the Ceredigion Way to explore and baby seals on the rocks. Who needs sun!

This was our second visit to what is the most beautiful cottage in the world, wonderfully restored with everything you need and surrounded by a magical garden. We love the stream, the walk to Cwmtydu (a seal hangs out there every day), cycling up and down the hills and hiking along the best stretch of coastal path in Wales. Perfect for active kids and nature-lovers. And I have to mention the incredibly comfy beds. Highly recommend!

Glan yr afon is a beautifully restored, traditional cottage in a secluded hamlet with a river running through the foot of the fantastic and extensive gardens. The interior decor is superb and many original features of the cottage have been tastefully retained. The location is peaceful with only the restful sound of running water and the trees rustling. Local beaches and towns are easily accessible and due to Ceredigion's low population nowhere feels overcrowded. Gemma & James' (the owners) guest service is first class. This is a really special place to get away from it all.

I had the most magical stay with my two children at Gemma and James’ beautiful Glan yafon and have been constantly dreaming about our return as soon as possible! The cottage is the most welcoming havens I’ve ever stayed in. It has been restored lovingly and with the greatest attention to detail. There is great taste in each detail. It is clearly the house and gorgeous garden of an artist. We spent a few wonderful days exploring the the secret coves and woodland walks along with the excellent recommendations for places to eat. A perfect stay!

This is an amazing cottage. Cute, homely and with style. The setting is beautiful with a babbling stream and large grounds. The owners left us a welcome pack of wine, chocolate and cakes to name a few things. Can’t recommend this cottage highly enough x

We stayed in this lovely cottage over Christmas and couldn't have asked for anywhere more perfectly magical. Every detail had been considered (incl Gemma's v thoughtful welcome gifts and mini Xmas tree & hand made decorations!), the bed was comfiest we've ever slept in, the shower powerful, the kitchen beautifully equipped and the cottage & garden both utterly idyllic, with a beautiful stream running at the bottom of the garden and multiple seating areas outside to enjoy the location and amazing local nature! We can't wait to go back and have already recommended it far and wide.

WOW! We absolutely loved our stay at Glan yr afon, this little cottage is something special, not only is it decorated and equipped to the most wonderful standard but the gardens, location and surrounding areas are magical! Nothing beats waking up to the sound of the birds and the stream in the garden, there are walks straight from the door and to arrive back after a long day to a fire, luxurious bed and big soaker tub - we left feeling totally refreshed and eager to return! The hosts were on hand to answer a few questions we had and made us feel very welcome.
