The
Experience
You’re lost in lovely hills, yet only three miles from the sea. Not that you’re going to stray far. These gorgeous suites don’t just have wonderful prices, they’re heaped with comforts, too – this is a great spot to come and do nothing at all. Richard and Huw have thought it all through. You get crockery and cutlery, kettles and fridges, then you’re encouraged to bring your own wine or to buy provisions from the farm shop for lunch. As for the suites, expect big beds, super bathrooms, sofas and armchairs in pretty sitting areas, then doors onto semi-private terraces – perfect for lunch in summer. You get iPod docks, flat-screen TVs, robes and White Company lotions, too. The new garden room is a little smaller than the others, but has a big terrace to compensate. Breakfast is served in the main house – the full Welsh works. Beautiful hills, sandy beaches, Cardigan and magical St Davids all wait. Good local restaurants are on hand: lobster from the sea, lamb from the hills. Don’t miss The Shed in Porthgain for excellent fish and chips. A great place to unwind with discounts for longer stays.

The owners of Penbontbren could not have been more helpful during our recent stay....for instance helping to unpack and offering to repack our car as I had hurt my back. The accommodation was of a very high standard, we had the garden room. All the furnishings were lovely and of great quality. Breakfast was first class with great food chosen from a menu, rather than just a "fry up" being offered. Richard was happy to make suggestions as to where to visit and eat. This is an exceptional B&B and we would both give it ten *s if we could.
