The Experience

An adorable split-level stone cottage. Step into a kitchen/dining room, sweet, simple and well equipped, with a separate utility room for a dishwasher and washer/dryer and all the kit you need to cook. Then it’s up two steps to a charming low-beamed sitting room, its oak floor limed, its beams painted white.

Modern sofas heaped with cushions face a wood-burning stove (first logs courtesy of the surrounding estate) and French windows opening to a flagstone terrace with a barbecue. On another level is the master bedroom, an inviting and harmonious space with views and a walk-in shower.

Two further bedrooms lie upstairs. This is a beautiful cottage where colours are serene, fabrics are fresh, and prints, paintings and furniture (antique and new) add both character and style. Groups can spill over into the manor house or neighbouring cottage. Book yourselves a private slot in the sauna with outdoor shower, a short drive away. Criccieth is a ten-minute drive.

Reviews

Such a lovely unique, cosy, comfortable cottage – equipped with all mod cons but refurbished keeping that lovely cottage appeal. Such a high standard throughout including cleanliness – the attention to detail is second to none. Great location for all ages, so much to do with peace and tranquillity thrown in.

Jennifer, Cheshire

Such a lovely place which looks exactly like the photos. The welcome basket was great and the cottage had everything we needed such as lots of cutlery, dishwasher, fire wood, body wash, towels etc. We had 4 adults and two children and the cottage was perfect and even though it was Feb, the children enjoyed running around the garden (which would be lovely to sit and eat in when it's summer). Would definitely book again, thank you!!

Beautiful cottage, lovely location. Everything was perfect.🤩 👍

Bleddyn, Cardiff

We were thoroughly impressed with the cottage even from before we arrived. About a week or so before our stay, we received a phone call to reconfirm our stay, offering to set up a cot and high chair for us as we were traveling with children. Really proactive and super happy with the arrangements. The cottage itself is in a idyllic location, ideally located for quick access to Porthmadog, Portmeirion, Cricieth and Harlech. Inside, it was spotless with a nicely presented welcome pack of fresh bread, milk and butter and the interior design really suited the building and location itself.

Location

The neighbourhood

In Criccieth you'll find two pubs, a bakery, deli, and Cadwaladers café for homemade cakes and good ice creams. There are numerous walks on the doorstep or further afield in the National Park. Try water sports, visit castles, explore Zip World, or head to Whitehall gastro pub in Pwllheli for Sunday lunch. Portmeirion, the glorious Italianate village, is 15 minutes; Black Rock Sands are fabulous.

Local points of interest from Wern Holiday Cottages

  • 2000 acre private country estate surrounded by ancient oak woodlands. There are superb views across the Llyn Peninsula from the pretty, private walled garden.
  • You can fish in our private lake at a very reasonable cost. Our lake has been stocked solely for the use of our guests.
  • Portmeirion is only a short drive away - created by Clough Williams-Ellis (the owner of the cottage is his great nephew) this quirky Italianaite village is full of surprises. Iconic architecture, scenic walks, restaurants, cafes and ice cream parlours!
  • Llanbedrog is a charming little seaside village with a superb beach and the most famous line of beach huts in Wales. Visit the Oriel Plas Glyn Y Weddw Gallery - see the owner's (David) sculpture "Louise" in the garden. Lovely tea room with home made cakes
  • Black Rock Sands is a must - The beach is so vast that you can drive your car onto it. Perfect for dog walking, shell collecting, windsurfing or just having a good old run about.
  • Delightful Welcome Pack - home made cake and jam (using our own fruit of course), coffee, tea and welsh cakes.
