The Experience

It’s as neat as a pin and very pretty inside, so even if it’s raining you’ll feel cosy indoors with the wood-burner blazing (logs supplied from the estate) and plenty of books, maps and games, or a smart telly. Views through the little windows are very rural and there are lots of footpaths for walkers nearby, or you can wander up through acres of the estate for wonderful views of the Brecon Beacons.

Two sweet, simple bedrooms have deep mattresses, feather and down pillows and duvets, Welsh blankets and nice views. The shower room is in the middle – spruce, shining and warm. The kitchen is a good size, you eat at an antique table and you’ll find all the kit you need for cooking along with tea, coffee and milk. The Felin Fach Griffin is 15 minutes in the car if you want to eat out.

Cyclists will love the smooth, quiet roads. Serious walkers will head to the Beacons for hill climbing, waterfalls and sublime views.

Reviews

The lodge is a small unexpected delight. Its functional stone exterior is 200 years old and hides wonderfully adapted living rooms and bedrooms, decorated with taste. The style of the inside is a wonderful counterpoint to the gruff protective outside. All around is walking country on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, and a feast of exploration within the hills of mid-Wales. You have it all here.

Enjoyed a 3 night stay at Glan Honddu Lodge 11th to 14th August 2025. The house has a luxurious feel to it with high quality bed linen and towels and the toiletries are locally sourced and smell divine. The lodge is tastefully decorated throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is even a welcome hamper including a sourdough loaf, welsh butter, homemade preserve, organic eggs, milk, locally roasted coffee, tea etc. There is private parking and an outdoor table and chairs. The lodge faces greenery and grazing sheep. I would not hesitate to recommend Glan Honddu Lodge.

Beautifully renovated gatehouse just outside Brecon with taste and comfort in mind. Great beds, linen, properly powerful shower, lux kitchen and hot water on tap. Super insulated for winter and log burner - no winter downsides. Well positioned for multiple activities in area.

Such a special treat to stay here. Very comfortable and cosy cottage, pretty views, 5 star touches including fresh spring flowers, delicious hamper of superb eggs and jams, and homemade bread. Would happily return for more rest, walks and exploring. Thank you!

What a wonderful way to spend Autumn in Wales: a week at Glann Honddu Estate. Lulu was very welcoming and helpful. Fresh flowers and herbs from the garden, homemade bread and jam, a large share of the hens' produce (never tasted such good eggs!). The living room is cosy with the fireplace (and plenty of wood). The bed was comfortable, and the shower (including lovely organic Goodwash Products) was a delight. All in all: a great stay. We are Lulu and Nicholas very thankful and hope to be back sometime.
