The Experience
Built into the ancient ramparts of this medieval hill town and towering 150 metres above the Dordogne river, the setting of this historic house is second to none.
Owners Hélène and François have miraculously transformed a cluster of stone cottages dating back to the 14th and 18th centuries into a spacious house and garden with swimming pool and jacuzzi (no mean feat when you consider the only access was via a crane lifting over the rooftops from the narrow alley below).
The sitting room has plenty of seating, there’s a games table and lots of books to keep you entertained in the library, a generous table in the dining room and another under the trees on the terrace, a well-equipped kitchen and four large en suite bedrooms each with a fireplace, fridge and air conditioning. Although you’re in the heart of the bustling town, the house and gardens are surprisingly peaceful and quiet.

We hired the whole house for a week. The location is idyllic within the walls of the one of the most beautiful towns in France. Views from the garden are stunning. Bedrooms are stylish and any issues were rectified by the owners rapidly. Canoeing on the Dordogne is available within 10 mins cycle. Several chateau's are within a couple of hours cycle. Thank you for a lovely week.

We couldn't have loved our stay at Francois and Helene's more. First, the home is incredible. Full of character and in a gorgeous setting. We particularly appreciated the ACs, king beds, and en suite bathrooms in every room. And I can't imagine there are many pools in the world where you get a better view than the one at this house! Second, being within Domme, with all its restaurants and shops just a stroll away, was great. The town itself is beautiful, with a great mix of truly stunning views over the Dordogne valley. Finally, Francois and Helene themselves were wonderful hosts!

Local points of interest from Hélène & François Passebon
- "La Dommerie" corresponds to our search for an art of living well in one of the most beautiful villages in France and to our desire to share it with our guests.
- The location in the Golden Triangle of the Dordogne Valley including villages of Domme, Castelnaud, La-Roque-Gageac and Beynac classified among the most beautiful villages in France, medieval castles and major prehistoric sites including the Lascaux cave.
- The natural beaches of the Dordogne river inviting for a refreshing swim.
- The hiking trails starting from the village for a bucolic walk. The Périgord is a fantastic playground for activity fan : hiking, canoeing, kayaking, cycling, there is always something to do.
- The pleasure of going on foot to dine in one of the many restaurants in the fortified village of Domme.
- The canoe trip down the Dordogne river offering a breathtaking view of the cliffs, villages and castles from Monfort to Beynac.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in Domme. We loved the house and garden and pottering around the town. The house has so much character and the views from the garden are breathtaking. We particularly appreciated how quickly you responded to any questions or problems. It was wonderful to have Gaëlle coming in to keep everything clean and tidy, she is a lovely lady. We would recommend the house and Domme to anyone. Thank you, Julia, Kevin and family.
