The Experience
The owners are next door but you have your own separate entrance and outdoor space, the feel will be very private. The main living area is double height, light and airy with doors to both terraces and gardens – fling these open on hot days and you can drift seamlessly indoors and out. There’s a covered patio for barbecues and eating, even in a downpour, or a wisteria-covered terrace by the (unheated) pool. Over an acre of gardens mean you can always find a secret spot with a book.
A nice country kitchen is roomy with a worktop island and a table big enough for 12, so you can entertain if you like. There are basics for cooking in stock and Bill leaves you a couple of bottles of local wine plus a jar of his homemade marmalade. On cooler days you can light the wood-burner, find lots of books to read, even have a game of bar billiards.
Join walks, stock up at lovely markets, sleep soundly on smooth vintage linen, relish the peace.

Our fourth visit to Lavinsotte and still our favourite holiday venue. This time we discovered a new restaurant in Bergerac, 'Le Bistro d'en face', recommended by Bill; it was perfect on both occasions. Our family guests were first time visitors and were equally entranced, both by the gite and surrounding area. Thank you, Bill. A la prochaine......

Just back from a 2 week stay in this wonderful Gite, the nicest we have ever stayed in. It is in the most beautiful place, surrounded by countryside and woodland. We were lucky enough to watch deer and their young from one of the terraces. The pool was perfect and very welcome on the hot days. Even though it is off the beaten track, the Gite is within easy reach of so many stunning villages with great markets. Bill was a great host and very knowledgeable about the area, his marmalade and nice wines were very much appreciated. We hope to return.

We had a wonderful 10 days at Lavinsotte in September 22 - we were warmly welcomed by Bill and very much appreciated his hospitality (and marmalade!) The property had everything we needed and more, and we particularly enjoyed being in such a quiet place and being able to sit in the different garden areas, as well as wandering out into the surrounding countryside, listening to birds and watching butterflies. We visited a number of beautiful medieval villages and the market at Villreal, and definitely recommend taking advantage of Bill’s suggestions for meals out – we ate very well!

Location
The neighbourhood
It's quiet because it's remote. The nearest place to stock up (a 15-minute drive) is Villeréal, a 13th-century bastide town with a super outdoor market, several restaurants and bars. Monflanquin is also 15 minutes in the car and is worth exploring for its medieval architecture. You can join Grande Randonnée hiking trails from the door and find a superb restaurant in Lougratte, 7 kms away.
Local points of interest from Bill & Anthea Quick
- We love living here in the gently rolling hills of the Lot et Garonne which is often referred to as the Tuscany of France. The area is steeped in history and has many beautiful small medieval bastide towns the nearest of which is Villereal.
- Villereal, is only 10 minutes drive and is listed as "Un des plus beaux villages de France" It is a bustling place with numerous restaurants, bars, supermarket, bakeries,a famous patisserie. and a weekly Saturday market which has been going since 1284
- With the whole area steeped in history there is plenty to see and do,the Dordogne valley and its chateaux is close by so is Bergerac and its vineyards.Through the summer months there many weekly events including concerts, gourmet markets and brocantes,
- Nearby there is a tennis court (2km), a tree climbing park with zip wires, horse riding, trotting races,go karting, theme park, water parks, caves, wine tours, canoeing and bike rental.
- Bergerac airport is only 34km away and is served by numerous UK airports and has several car rental agencies on site. Bordeaux and Toulouse airports are two hours away.

Introducing
Bill & Anthea Quick
Bill and Anthea (both involved in the antiques business, hence the gorgeous furniture) have lived in France since the early 90s and have now retired. They're just next door and are always available to answer questions or give advice. They encourage you to feel at home and to pick herbs from the garden.
Lavinsotte is a seductive haven of peace and tranquility in the northern part of the Lot et Garonne region of France. The gite is a comfortable and beautifully converted barn attached to the owner's property, furnished with great taste. It's off the beaten track, and it was lovely to spend time there enjoying the sounds of nature, wonderful rural views, the refreshing pool (not shared), and visits to the enchanting bastide towns and villages nearby. Our dog was free to enjoy exploring the expansive gardens and we appreciated the warm welcome from Bill, the owner. Highly recommended.
