The Experience
Outside find a moat, ramparts, towers with battlements and extensive formal gardens; inside the thick stone walls discover rich wood panelling, parquet floors, heavy drapery and high ceilings. Yet it somehow manages a cosy, intimate feel. Bedrooms (doubles and suites) are in the oldest wing: spacious, elegantly decorated and each with its own distinctive character – you’ll feel frightfully grand.
Head to the charming breakfast room with its gleaming copper pans for croissants and pains au chocolat from the village bakery, jams and honey, local eggs, hams and charcuterie – the focus is on serving the best regional produce. The library/sitting room is a good spot to read a book or listen to music if it’s pouring with rain.
On fine days you can retire to the terrace and admire the Renaissance-style gardens with views over fields towards the volcanic peaks of the Auvergne mountains, listening to birdsong and the nearby river.

Location
The neighbourhood
Across the street from the castle is the medieval centre of the village, a maze of steep and narrow streets which tumble down the hill. Find a Romanesque church, a traditional local bistro (Le Bistrot d'Ici) and an independent grocer and local food stockist (Chez Franck et Sophie) that serves cheese or cold meat platters. Join the Via Arverna, a pilgrimage route for glorious hiking and walking.

Introducing
Sébastien Yepes
Sébastien and his brother, both local lads, bought the castle in 2023. Sébastien takes the lead role in the management and development of the castle and is passionate about it, along with the village. Assistant director Sylvie is an artist, mainly working in Chinese ink. They both clearly put their heart and soul into creating dreams which guests can share.
Anyone who adored "Wolf Hall" and has ever dreamed of living in a luxurious yet authentic French château with both centuries of history and modern comforts will find this place a magical escape. It's reminiscent of the oneiric, bucolic, happy-ever-after tranquillity imagined by Cromwell in his final moments in TV's "The Mirror and the Light".
