The Experience
Throw open the windows to birdsong and views of the forest, a deer grazing quietly on the pristine lawn. The house has been in Maggy’s family for generations. She has renovated it from top to bottom and she welcomes guests with tea and cake, or a glass of wine on the terrace.
Bedrooms are charming, with family antiques and oils on the walls, full length windows and big double beds. There is a quiet space to read in the smart sitting room downstairs and a terrace by the pool for sunbathing. Maggy serves breakfast down there in warm weather – her own homemade jams; local honey, cheese and charcuterie, and freshly baked croissants.
You’re in vast wooded parklands, so you can walk for hours in the grounds and you won’t see a soul. Hike to tranquil lakes in the Morvan Natural Park and work up an appetite for the fine wines and cheeses Burgundy is famous for. Nearby villages are packed with charming bistros, or dine on Maggy’s splendid home cooking.

The neighbourhood
Down a private track, 1.5 km from the nearest village, the house feels quiet and remote. It's 6km to a good restaurant in St Didier, Maggy can reserve a table. Just a little further in Etang sur Arroux there are plenty of places to eat and a charming Sunday market. Visit Biberacte for the Gallic museum and restaurant.
