The Experience

Surrounded by acres of woodland and pasture, a blissfully remote Burgundy farmhouse with charming rooms. Retired journalist Lee has transformed her historic home into a mellow countryside retreat. Parquet floors and oak beams endure in light, spacious bedrooms filled with antiques; each has a sparkling modern bathroom. Lee’s bountiful vegetable garden provides much of the produce for superb regional meals eaten communally. Only birdsong disturbs the deep peace, so go slow and laze by the inviting pool, explore the wild gardens, take a siesta… or head out to Vézelay hilltop village or medieval Clamecy. Wonderful.

Reviews

Gert, Beregn op Zoom

A lovely place, very quiet and peaceful. Lee is a lovely host and a perfect cook. We greatly enjoyed the dinners and breakfasts under the plane tree. The rooms are very nice with a good bed (clean!).

Katherine, Bristol

This peaceful spot is fantastic for winding down. The welcome was warm and the meals were delicious. The room was quiet and comfortable. Highly recommended

Penny, West Sussex

Lee and Philippe are very welcoming. Lovely room and very comfortable bed. Lee's cooking is wonderful and we had some delicious meals all using vegetables from the garden. A treat to have breakfast and supper sitting out in the garden. An added bonus is the swimming pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Roger, Monmouth

We stayed at the Auberge de la Tuilerie for three nights at the end of August 2016. In common with other guests we very much enjoyed the good food, wine and comfortable accommodation. Lee and Philippe are excellent and intelligent hosts, as is the third member of the team, Emile the dog, who also takes his hospitality duties very seriously. Christine, Hasle-Rüegsau

The place of Lee and Philipp is very peaceful, quiet and surrounded of the tipical burgudy countyside. The rooms are decorated with nice furniture and a lot of lovely details. Lee is a wonderful cook and the wine Philipp serves is plenty and very tasteful. 35 Euros for such a dinner with wine and coffee is not much. We will go again!!
