The Experience

The approach from any direction is lovely – through Côtes du Rhône vineyards and green hills with Mont Ventoux rising up in the distance. The gîtes are set into a peaceful hillside along with the owners’ house and some outbuildings, no road or town in sight. Sitting rooms are cosy with wood-burners and sofas, kitchens are contemporary and ultra well-equipped and the bedrooms are a good size with smart wet rooms.

Eat out on your private terrace overlooking the panoramic and ever-changing view as the sun moves across the sky. There will be heart-warming sunsets and the dark skies are grand for star spotting at any time of year. Cool off by the pool, snooze on a sun lounger, open the local bottle of wine waiting for you.

It’s a 15-minute walk to Tresques for a boulangerie, grocer, excellent pizzas, a winery that also sells vegetables in summer and a super Sunday morning market. Gather your spoils and return to long happy meals.

Destiny, Almere

We visited Domain Cadignac last fall. What a beautiful place, lovely hosts and their wonderful four-legged friends (which became my friends instantly :-) ). We loved visiting the nearby beautiful town of Uzes, including the beautiful walks in Vallée de l'Eure. We made road trips to the Ardeche, Avignon and Orange. Leonard and Esther are wonderful. The gite was perfect, clean, cozy and quiet. And even at the end of October we dared to jump in the pool. It doesn't get any better than that. 10/10! We will definitely be back!

Like God in France! We have known Esther and Leo for a long time. Even in previous activities with a previous company, we really enjoyed their warm hospitality. Now that they have owned Domaine Cadignac for several years, the enormous commitment and creativity has not changed. Even better: In just a few years, they have turned it into another wonderful location. We had the pleasure of using gîte Joi de Vivre. Tastefully decorated, it lacks nothing, has a nice pool, a complete kitchen and a great terrace with views over the vineyards. A lot of wine and cheese are consumed there!

Domaine de Cadignac, near Tresques, Dept. Gard France is the perfect place to be ! Your hosts: Leonard and Esther know what hospitality stands for. We stayed at their Gite: Joy de Vivre. Everything was perfect: kitchen, living room, bathroom, very comfortable beds, moreover the place is super clean and very well kept. Our gite was first floor and from the balcony wonderful view into the valley. Perfect pool and since there are only two gites the pool is mostly private ! Go there, you wont't be disappointed!

Kate, London

A beautiful, tasteful, well-equipped property where we spent a happy week. We went out each morning to visit local villages and markets and came back in the afternoon to swim and sit by the pool and look at the view. Fresh figs from a tree in the garden, canoeing under the Pont du Gard and lunch by the market in La Roque-sur-Cèze were particular highlights. A warm welcome by Leonard and Esther made us want to return.

Location

The neighbourhood

You can step straight out of the door for wonderful walks; the Grande Randonnée passes just below the house. Visit wineries in Tresques, Laudun and Mégier, Roman towns such as Avignon (40 minutes), or a beer brewery down the road in St Gervais. Drive 20 minutes for a canoe down the Cèze river, lunch at one of many restaurants in La Roque-sur-Cèze and don't miss the nearby Sautadet waterfalls.

Local points of interest from Leonard & Esther Robberts-Kuchler

  • Uzès, First Duchess of France, it’ a beautiful town to visit, it’s typically French. On wednesday morning and saturday morning there is a market - especially the one on saturday is well known. There are good restaurants and nice shops.
  • Nîmes is called 'French Rome' because it was the most important city of Roman Gaul. So it has many beautiful remains from that time. Such as the spectaccular amphitheater (les Arenes), La maison Carrée, le Temple de Diana and the Tour Magne.
  • Le camp de César, an ancient stronghold, is one of those places that transport you to other ages, in this case, the one where our country was called La Gaulle.
  • Orange is a city steeped in history. A tourist destination, it is famous for its remains, treasures of Antiquity such as the ancient theater or Arc de Triomphe.
  • Avignon is best known as the former residence of the Popes and for its famous bridge. You will also find many pleasant squares in the city and many monuyments to admire. Since 1995, the historic center of Avignon has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
  • Domaine Cadignac is located in the Côtes du Rhône, there are several wine caves you can visit and where it is possible to taste wine. It is also possible to take a cooking course in Uzès. We will be happy to advise you. à bientôt Leonard & Esther
