The Experience

The approach from any direction is lovely – through Côtes du Rhône vineyards and green hills with Mont Ventoux rising up in the distance. The gîtes are set into a peaceful hillside along with the owners’ house and some outbuildings, no road or town in sight. Sitting rooms are cosy with wood-burners and sofas, kitchens are contemporary and ultra well-equipped and the bedrooms are a good size with smart wet rooms.

Eat out on your private terrace overlooking the panoramic and ever-changing view as the sun moves across the sky. There will be heart-warming sunsets and the dark skies are grand for star spotting at any time of year. Cool off by the pool, snooze on a sun lounger, open the local bottle of wine waiting for you.

It’s a 15-minute walk to Tresques for a boulangerie, grocer, excellent pizzas, a winery that also sells vegetables in summer and a super Sunday morning market. Gather your spoils and return to long happy meals.

Reviews

You can be guaranteed a warm welcome from Leonard and Esther in these comfortable gîtes, set in gorgeous countryside in the heart of a region peppered with Roman ruins, market towns and festival-filled cities. Your daily escapades will be filled with so much to do and see before returning to pure comfort in this peaceful domain – all in all making for a perfect holiday.

We had a truly wonderful and memorable week stay at Domaine Cadignac. The outlook is rolling fields of grape vines and it is located in a quiet, rural position. The gîte was modern and well equipped with a great kitchen (pretty unusual in France)- we love to cook. The building is a lovely old and typical Provencal property. The pool was large and welcome as it was 35 degrees every day. Leonard & Esther are the perfect hosts - warm, smily, helpful and relaxed. We WILL be returning.

What a picture, what a view.. Away from the main roads, away from all the hustle and bustle of the day. Here at Domaine Cadignac you will find peace, space, you fill in the regularity yourself. With our dog we walked every morning and evening, from the house through the beautiful valley along vineyards and through the forest. We have played golf with friends in nearby Uzès and in Nîmes, they are beautiful golf courses. Canoeists also for you are the Gardon, Ceze and in the Ardèche at Valon pont D'arc beautiful places for canoeing. An afternoon of enjoyment; Chilling by the pool.

Again this year, we stayed at this beautiful location. And for good reason. Very nice accommodation, garden and pool. Everything has been thought of. Beautiful views and walking opportunities right from the holiday home. Very quiet and rural location, but many beautiful old towns within driving distance. Hospitable and helpful owners. Dog-friendly. We will definitely return again.

Last May we checked into a beautiful apartment in Tresquez for two weeks. A beautiful place to enjoy the immediate and wider surroundings. We were looking for a place to relax, with a swimming pool, beautiful views, spacious apartment and plenty to do in the area. All these wishes have been met. Orange, Avignon, Nimes, Uzes were easily accessible within traveling distance. All beautiful cities and lots to see. Nearby is Bagnoles sur Ceze with many shops and a large market. For us as nature lovers, there is a lot to walk, cross bike and visit markets. In short, we had two wonderful week.

Location

The neighbourhood

You can step straight out of the door for wonderful walks; the Grande Randonnée passes just below the house. Visit wineries in Tresques, Laudun and Mégier, Roman towns such as Avignon (40 minutes), or a beer brewery down the road in St Gervais. Drive 20 minutes for a canoe down the Cèze river, lunch at one of many restaurants in La Roque-sur-Cèze and don't miss the nearby Sautadet waterfalls.

Local points of interest from Leonard & Esther Robberts-Kuchler

  • Uzès, First Duchess of France, it’ a beautiful town to visit, it’s typically French. On wednesday morning and saturday morning there is a market - especially the one on saturday is well known. There are good restaurants and nice shops.
  • Nîmes is called 'French Rome' because it was the most important city of Roman Gaul. So it has many beautiful remains from that time. Such as the spectaccular amphitheater (les Arenes), La maison Carrée, le Temple de Diana and the Tour Magne.
  • Le camp de César, an ancient stronghold, is one of those places that transport you to other ages, in this case, the one where our country was called La Gaulle.
  • Orange is a city steeped in history. A tourist destination, it is famous for its remains, treasures of Antiquity such as the ancient theater or Arc de Triomphe.
  • Avignon is best known as the former residence of the Popes and for its famous bridge. You will also find many pleasant squares in the city and many monuyments to admire. Since 1995, the historic center of Avignon has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
  • Domaine Cadignac is located in the Côtes du Rhône, there are several wine caves you can visit and where it is possible to taste wine. It is also possible to take a cooking course in Uzès. We will be happy to advise you. à bientôt Leonard & Esther
