The Experience

Here, in the deep peace of the Languedoc countryside, two cheerful gîtes are among a cluster of lovely old buildings framing a walled central courtyard. Surrounded by acres of vines and just a few kilometres from the sea, it is blissfully secluded. There’s an apartment for four and a cottage for six – each with a private outdoor space shaded by mulberry trees.

Inside, both are bright and simple with 1950s-style dressers in the kitchens, basics for cooking and a couple of bottles of wine from the estate. There’s not another house in sight from the pool and the peace is palpable. Children will love roaming freely on bikes and playing boules in the courtyard; grown-ups can visit the cave à vin to sample the Domaine’s elegant wines or retreat to a shady corner with a book.

Wonderful walks start from the house – visit two neighbouring vineyards – and swimmers have the sea at Mèze, the beautiful Hérault river and the Salagou Lake.

Reviews

Embalmed in the atmosphere of a working vineyard, this is a place of such perfect peace and straightforward hospitality without the frills. The gites are simple and so comfortable. I stayed here with my family and we would all be happy to come back again and again. We had such a lovely time exploring the neighbourhood, eating glorious food and also enjoying time spent at the domain.

Diana, Sawday's Inspector

We stayed in Gite Mathilda and really loved it. Everyone was so welcoming & helpful. Its an incredibly relaxing place and Christophe was especially thoughtful & generous with his time & gave us a wonderful explanation of the wine making process & great recommendations where to eat & visit . Our Gite was also very comfortable & well equipped & our 3 children loved the pool & enjoyed the walks & beautiful rural location. There was also so much to do close by - with the sea , the lagoon at Meze, the river, lakes, mountains, the vibrant town of Sete and fish restaurant's galore. A perfect week!

We spent a delightful 4 days in the apartment if this lovely domaine in September. For us it was perfect, with evenings by the pool watching the sunset. Christophe is a charming and welcoming host who points you in the right direction - restaurants, beaches, markets etc. Also a big thank you to Jenny who helped make our stay special.

Maggie, LONDON

We stayed for Christmas with family, it was just the best time ever. We were treated like Royalty, everything you could possibly need. We had sunny weather and took advantage of the wonderful walks from the Domain.

Annette, Ringwood

Our family of 6 stayed here for a week in July, 2015. Beautiful French countryside location. The gite was well appointed and fit the 6 of us very well. Christophe and Jenny were VERY nice and accommodating. Having a clean, refreshing pool in the middle of July to swim in was also very nice. We all loved the sweet, big dog, Elliot, who followed us around the grounds daily. Overall, a very relaxing holiday. 5 stars!

Introducing

Christophe Savary

Christophe (5th generation winemaker) took over the family business in 1982 from his grandfather who produced a vast quantity of drinkable table wine. Christophe has raised the standard in quality and continues the business with the same passion. He studied at the Beaux Arts and his love of the arts is reflected in the house, which is dotted with vast installations that are exhibited permanently.
