Patrick and Colette are intelligent, thoughtful and enthusiastic, and their château, built in 1647, is an absolute treat. Grand fireplaces, original features, rugs on oak floors, superb new bathrooms (one loo in its turret): the conversion is authentic, not luxurious but elegantly comfortable. Ask for a lighter room with views over park and lake. Outside: a children’s play area, an organic kitchen garden, a heated pool, an orchard you can enjoy… tranquillity and views. The local meat is succulent, there is a deep commitment. Conversation flows with the wine.
