The Experience
The prosperous looking manor by the church (once a modest farmhouse) has become a splendid B&B. Tea in the salon with Frederick – Anglophile restorer with a great sense of humour – is civilised and fun, while dinner at the big table (homemade orange wine, local organic produce) with both hosts, and perhaps other guests, is a gorgeous feast. As for the suites, they have been designed in the spirit of the house, one à la Napoleon III, the other Louis Philippe. Towels are snowy, bed linen crisp and all is generous and bright. Wake to fruit compotes served on antique china, come home to a beautiful box-hedged garden.

stayed on two separate nights. Delicious food well presented both in the dining room and on a tray in our large bedroom. The house and our hosts were charming. Great place to stay.

A truly unusual but special place to stay, our favourite over the 10 days that we spent travelling in France. The house has been beautifully restored, the bedrooms are large & dreamy, the food utterly delicious & as a guest we were made to feel very welcome. The area around Verdun is fascinating & Frederick has extensive knowledge about the battles & the local history. Highly recommended, a really lovely house to stay in with exceptionally kind hosts.

Simply lovely!! Frederick and Nicolas are wonderful hosts in a charming, quiet and beautiful old farmhouse, tastefully refurbished. Beds that are too comfortable for an early start to the day and excellent food and hospitality served in a relaxed but thoughtful manner. Cannot recommend highly enough and deserves far more than simple Sawday's 'thumbs up'! We will be back to this beautiful part of the world as soon as possible. One note of caution: beware of the Damson liquor, it makes leaving the comfortable beds even more challenging!! Great for a stopover or a longer stay.

One of the best Sawday's places we've stayed at. Fascinating house and hosts who really make you feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble and Frederick even baked us some biscuits for our long journey home! Wish we could have stayed longer, but we'll be back!
