The Experience

Think wisteria, wild cherry, gorse and prickly pear, fig trees, olive trees, palms and pines. And you, lying by the pool, surrounded by terraced gardens running up the hill, the scents of the south tickling the senses and the breezes in the trees to unwind to. As for the villa, there at the top of a 20m drive, it’s a marvel: open, airy, and generous in every way, stylish yet original, immaculate yet laid-back. All generations could happily mingle, just as long as they were sprightly (many outdoor levels). Apart from swimming in that 5m x 15m pool, there’s so much on tap: table tennis, boules, TV, WiFi. The wraparound veranda is long and wide, the terrace is drenched in sun all day, and the kitchen is a hedonist’s delight – cocktail shakers and coffee makers a-go-go! If you tire of cooking, hilltop Saint-Jeannet is a four-minute drive, little Gattières is equally close, and there’s a takeaway pizza place to walk to. Then there are the bedrooms, two at garden level, two below (so your party can be four or nine), bright, modern and delightful – deluxe mattresses, ethnic touches, and bathrooms awash with light.

Reviews

We had the pleasure of staying in this very comfortable, private and stylish sanctuary for a week last September. The beautiful grounds and idyllic views kept us close to nature, whilst the spacious and chic interiors make for cosy evenings indoors. It was also very well-located for our visits to Antibes. Nice and Cannes. This was a very restorative and enjoyable week made possible by the care taken to create this very special place.

Minoustan is just the most gorgeous holiday home I have ever stayed in, all of the decor and little touches really make it feel like you’re staying in someone’s beautifully looked after permanent home rather than a holiday let. Don’t get me started on the view… being up above the valley with a drink in hand on a clear day when the light brings out the colour in the surrounds - perfection. Could not recommend more!

Minoustan is a dream place to stay. The interior design really resonated with us, and we felt so at home. Sitting on the terrace having breakfasts and dinners with the best view over the valley. The house is easy to find. You'll need a car if you want to get around lots, but a taxi will easily bring you there from the airport if lounging is more your vibe. All the facilities are well-maintained. We spent most of our time by the pool, and the whole place is not overlooked at all, giving us an amazing feeling of ease and comfort. The petanque piste among the trees was a highlight too.

Our family of 4 had a splendid stay at Minoustan. It is a very warm and welcoming house, very nicely decorated and equipped. The garden is beautiful! Gattières is a charming village, perfectly located to the main touristic sites of the region: Nice, St-Paul de Vence, Maeght Foundation, etc. Communication with the landlord and her representative was cordial and easy. We loved our stay!

Minoustan was everything my friends and I had hoped for. A beautifully kept villa with stunning surroundings. It was the perfect place to relax in the day and entertain at night. Thank you so much - I can't wait to come back!

Gorgeous, tasteful decor and total privacy. The pool and view is incredible. A slice of tropical paradise.

Côte d’Azur charm in abundance! Minoustan is a very special place. Tucked away in the hills of Nice, you feel like a 1960’s star. The house is beautifully decorated. The poolside and dining terrace make it tempting to never leave the vicinity! Though if you do, it’s an easy drive into town - giving you the best of both worlds. A perfect setting for a group with great communal areas but space for some alone time. We could not fault our stay- we love Minoustan!

A gorgeous stay. Beautiful interior, peaceful surroundings and everything you need to unwind in the sunshine. The outside eating area was amazing and long balmy evenings were spent cooking and eating there. A lovely place to unwind.

We had a wonderful stay at Minoustan. The villa is lovely and very well equiped ... our children (5 and 7) both loved the pool, ping pong table and petanque (although the rest of the garden is a little wild for 'exploring' by younger ones). the view down the valley to Nice (especially at night) is beautiful and the location in general is great ... very close to a huge hypermarket but also to many lovely little villages for markets and exploring. 20 mins to the centre of Nice great for beach and dinner alike ... what a brilliant place to stay!

  • Wake up to the sound of birds chirping in 3500 meters of Mediterranean garden. Have an apéritif serenaded by crickets. Go to sleep with lights twinkling in the valley.
  • Go East, cross three countries in 45 minutes: the heart of Nice, bling in Monaco, la dolce vita in Sanremo. Go West, to charming perched villages: Tourette-sur-Loup, Gourdon and breathtaking wild expanses in Préalpes d’Azur.
  • Go South, in 30 minutes you are in Cannes. Meander down through delightful Saint Jeannet, medieval mellow Vence, iconic Saint Paul, to the sandy beaches of Antibes. Go North, and ski in rustic Auron or high-tech Isola.
  • So many great artists have lived on the French Riviera: there is a quality to the light and the life that is truly magical. All of it, an easy day trip from the villa.
  • You choose: gastronomy; international festival; world-class museum; preserved hill-top village; ornate palazzo in exotic gardens; breath-taking scenery; chic private beach or skinny dipping in a waterfall; organic jasmine soap or a diamond bracelet.
