The Experience

Just below a ruined medieval castle in the oldest part of the village, the house has 12th-century roots. It’s a family home with nooks for reading one of the many books in the library, or writing in the study and lots of steps, staircases and landings. The master bedroom on the first floor is spacious and airy with a great view, the others are a floor above and smaller with beams but there are sea views from all.

Meals in the terraced garden are under a riot of subtropical flowers and trees, with birdsong by day and cigales on summer evenings – no traffic noise. The kitchen is well equipped and on the first floor next to the dining area. Shops, bars, a weekly market, good restaurants (and tourists) are a 10-minute walk along narrow streets with vaulted arches.

Spend happy days at stunning sandy beaches (15 minutes by car) with a picnic, or wander round lively marinas spotting yachts.

Reviews

What a wonderful place - it is so charming with so many beautiful aspects to the house. We loved the rustic medieval feel of the house, with the beautiful furnishings and the garden to pick figs and sit in the various terraces. The location is ideal being in the centre of Bormes, in the evenings you could stroll down to the many restaurants and bars and hear wonderful live music from our terrace. The nearby beaches were beautiful, if a little crowded and the beachside restaurants were really fun.

Just back from a wonderful week at Mounto Davalo. We were blessed with sunshine everyday. The house is gorgeous and perfectly situated in Bormes Les Mimosas near the quaint shops, bars and restaurants. We explored the area as we had a weeks break here. We caught the bus to St Tropez and the nearest beach is a five minute drive away. The house had everything you need to make your holiday special, comfortable surroundings, beautiful views, terraces to spend time relaxing or having meals. I am already looking forward to my next trip here.

We had the pleasure of spending 10 days at Mounto Davalo. Such a beautiful house nestled at the top of the mountain with stunning views of the coastline. Just a short walk through the lanes to the delightful village which hosts some amazing restaurants, shops & ice cream to die for! The perfect place to relax & unwind.

I fell in love with the house as soon as I walked in. Full of atmosphere, charm and character. Just a lovely feel about it. The village and views are incredible and the scent of the different blossoms around the garden in the evening was sublime. Found fabulous beaches just a short drive away, all so varied. Something for everyone. Clearest water and softest sand. A very special place that I know I will return to again and again.

Perhaps I mostly enjoyed the fact that Mount Davolo is so obviously a much lived in and beloved family home. You walk right in and feel comfortable surrounded by many family photos, beautiful old prints of Bormes. It is not ostentatious and radiates a very warm atmosphere. The garden and terraces are enchanting.

A very well appointed property that boasts a beautiful vista. An ideal location to explore the South of France.

Introducing

Simon & Joanna McIntyre

Joanna inherited the house from her parents who spent many months a year there. They bought it from an artist/sculpture whose family had lived in it for three generations. Having renovated it, it has remained a family summer home and they let it out when they are not using it themselves.
