The Experience

Take the peaceful top-floor flat if you are a couple. Chat to Rosemary about her many-faceted traveller’s life while she serves you breakfast in the chiaroscuro living room or out on the pretty balcony in warm weather. She will head off to the boulangerie and bring back different choices of bread and pastries to go with your fresh fruit platter and homemade yogurt.

If you prefer privacy choose the modern 3rd-floor apartment with wonderful views onto the garden – but no balcony and breakfast is served in your own dining area. There are two great department stores in walking distance – Galeries Lafayette and Printemps (both with panoramic views from the top), and lots of independent boutiques in Montmartre.

Walk to the top of the steps of Montmartre, admire the Sacré Coeur cathedral, return to very comfortable apartments and a short stroll to good restaurants, cafés and bars.

Reviews

Margaret, Melbourne

I was lucky enough to be able to spend seven wonderful days at 52 rue de Clichy. I have been a regular tourist in Paris and I was delighted to find a bed and breakfast in the 9th arrondissement. The apartment is in an ideal location that is served by numerous Metro lines. I was warmly welcomed by Rosemary who is a delightful host. She was able to offer insightful information regarding transport, galleries, restaurants and so much more. If you need a little more space, she also has an apartment on a lower floor that might suit you.

This was our second stay at this fantastic find. It is the perfect spot to explore Paris from. Safe, secure and your own kitchen to cook in if you want to. But what truly sets this place apart is Rosemary the owner. She went above and beyond for us on both stays and is a font of information and help. Reading her guest books that are left in the apartment show clearly this was not a personalised service just for us - people from around the globe for year after year sing her praises and appreciate what a lovely find 52 Clichy is. We will be back!

Bruce, Carrollton

The apartment was lovely, and the location was great. The best thing, though, was Rosemary. She corresponded with me ahead of time about our daily itinerary, she helped us figure out the best ways to get around, she brought us a delicious breakfast every morning and visited with us about our plans for the day (she was excellent company). My wife got sick, and Rosemary went above and beyond, helping us negotiate the public health system. I highly recommend 52 Clichy.

Margaret, Newcastle uponTyne

Good location and close to all major attractions. Excellent breakfast provided by Rosemary.

Katie, Bishops Waltham

Myself and my friend stayed with Rosemary over Easter. The apartment was beautiful and Rosemary was an incredible host. For such a central location, it is incredibly quiet and peaceful. We are both wheelchair users, and being able to stay in a proper Parisian apartment rather than a hotel was lovely!

Location

The neighbourhood

You're on the top floor of an elegant building from the turn of the century, in the heart of the 9th arrondissement. Visit the rue d'Orsel, lined with fabric shops, or two lesser-known but fabulous museums - Musée Gustave Moreau and Musée de la Vie Romantique which has one of the prettiest gardens in the city. You're a 20-minute walk from the Gare du Nord or the metro will take you there.

Local points of interest from Rosemary Allan

  • An Award-winning image consultant, voted 'Best Image Consultant in Paris' last 3 years by Expatriates magazine, Rosemary can help you discover your best shades & styles or suggest personalised shopping trips to create your own Parisian style!

  • Best free museum is the Musée de la Vie Romantique, just steps away. It has a great outdoor café open mid-March to mid-Oct. Favourite museum is l'Orangerie, dip into Impressionist art plus THE waterlilies without being overwhelmed.
  • In 5 mins you can walk to the base of Montmartre; sleep peacefully but be so close to the cafés, restaurants & little shops that make up this vibrant, local, artist community. Ask for my restaurant recommendations or get them from my website.
  • Test the organic market on Saturday mornings at Place de Clichy or the huge local market at Barbès. Direct metro rides will take you to the most famous flea market Puces de Saint Ouen or the more manageable Puces de Vanves.
  • Mobility problems? Wheelchair friendly B&B has no steps to climb and an elevator to the door. Need to be able to take a few steps to access the toilet and to get onto the balcony. If completely wheel-chair bound, '52 Clichy Apartment' is ideal.
