The Experience

Bliss for those who love peace and Heidi-esque views. English Katie has transformed the barn into a family home, and the granary into a bolthole for two. The chairlift is a hop in the car, and the resort of Morzine (restaurants, bars, mountain trails) is a ten-minute drive. Katie ushers you through the old granary’s wonky front door (expertly restored) into the living area, vaulted but cosy. There’s a new wooden floor, a sofa and furnishings in warm muted colours, a well-equipped kitchen in Shaker olive green and a log-stocked wood-burner for lazy nights in. Chill with a ‘vin chaud’ on the balcony – beautifully, authentically restored – as the peaks glisten in the wintery sun and the stream trickles below. (It’s impossible to tire of the view… and in summer you wake to cowbells.) Then it’s down the hand-built oak stair to a delicious shower, a heated floor, and a king size bed positioned for the view. There’s also a patio for a barbecue. Not bad to come home to after hiking to the numerous mountain top restaurants with sensational panorama.

Absolutely loved my stay here. The place is comfortable and well-equipped, the views from the balcony and terrace are incredible, communication with Katie was fast and easy. Highly recommend!

Hugh

What can be said about this wonderful place? We spent a wonderful few nights there in the beautiful summer alpine weather, benefitted from great suggestions for activities, and made friends with the cats! Katie was a wonderful host, and went above and beyond when we realised we’d forgotten some items after leaving. We couldn’t have wanted for more - highly highly highly recommended!
