The Experience

Owner Sébastien cooks superb modern French dishes from scratch and the restaurant buzzes throughout the year – non-residents are welcome too. If you don’t fancy getting out of bed in the morning, warm brioche and other good things can be delivered to your door. Walk or cycle (there are bikes to borrow) through 37 acres of green parkland, or get in the car for abbeys, châteaux, gardens, WWI sites. The coast is a 40-minute drive for blustery walks, wild swimming and seal spotting.Return to cool bedrooms and opulent bathrooms: one suite has a jacuzzi, another has two baths side by side. Aim to stay in the treehouse – wrapped round a sycamore, with a big decked balcony under the leaves – it’s the business!

Reviews

Jill, Amersham

Wonderful stay at this delightful hotel. Delightful spacious room, welcoming owners and fabulous food. Weve been traveling to France for many years and this hotel is without doubt one of the best we have found.

John, Canonbie

A perfect place to stay en route to the tunnel. Sebastien was most welcoming and interesting. Our bedroom and bathroom were very spacious and comfortable. Lovely surroundings for walking our two dogs. We stayed on a Monday night so dinner wasn't available but Sebastien gave local recommendations and kindly offered a cold tray. Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. We would certainly book again.

Karen, Ludlow

This is the perfect stop after crossing the channel. The accommodation is excellent and Sebastian and his team are absolutely charming. We really appreciated the delicious dinner - very much seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. They have a great wine list too. Breakfast is also brilliant. It was homemade and generous. We will definitely be back!

Amanda, Beverley, East Yorkshire, England

Dillon and I have been so fortunate to be able to revisit such a beautiful place, fabulous dinner and breakfast, time to chat to Sebastian, eat and enjoy the most beautiful food, very comfy room and extremely clean, already have a longing to be back for their very tempting Sunday Evenings

Michael, Cleeve Prior

An easy journey from the tunnel through rural France. Upgraded to one of the cottages which was very comfortable. A superb meal served in a unique room graced by an enormous table made from a mango tree trunk. A typical French breakfast set us up for the onward journey. Thank you Sebastien and your excellent friendly staff. We will certainly hope to return. Michael and Elisabeth Hughes

Location

The neighbourhood

The nearest town, Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise, is a ten-minute drive - it has a Monday market, shops and restaurants. Arras (45-minutes) played a significant role in both world wars and has an important WW1 memorial and the Jardins de Sericourt are stunning. The coast is close too - Le Touquet (40-minutes) is an elegant seaside resort, popular with Parisians, with interesting architecture.

Local points of interest from Sébastien de la Borde

  • Headquarter of the British Tank corp during first world war
  • The Centenary of the Great War 2014. The front and infamous trenches which brought so much suffering to British & Commonwealth, French and German combatants are only approx 20 mins away.
  • Interested in Medieval history? The famous battle of Agincourt took place only 10 mins from here so feel free to visit the excellent visitors centre.
  • The antena of the Louvres is only 40 minutes away.....Visit Le Louvres Lens on a rainy day....
  • Arras and its famous square are very interesting to visit on an architectural point of view.... Specially on Saturday morning with the local market....
