The Experience
In the heart of the heart of Rome and walking distance to Piazza Navona, duck down a tiny passage into a 15th-century palazzo courtyard. The ground-floor studio apartment mixes New York loft cool with Renaissance flourishes: gilded portraits and family antiques, white walls and floors, sleek furnishings.
Cleverly organised to offer modernity but comfort, the double-height room has a mezzanine-level bedroom where a double and a single bed still leave plenty of space – there’s an extra sofa bed downstairs. A shiny, well-equipped kitchen slips seamlessly into a corner; elsewhere bright yellow cushions and a modish-styled sofa sit happily amongst gleaming antiques.
Pull out the nifty table to eat indoors or mix with the locals in the street’s trattorias and bakeries; the smell of fresh bread reaches your front door and you’ll find plenty of information in the flat about the best places to eat.

This little apartment was a highlight of our Rome visit. Andrea welcomed us, helped us with bus timetables, saw us incidentally during the week (which felt really nice, that the host was a local) and met with us as we left (he had ordered a taxi for us). The flat was modern, comfortable, clean, safe, neat with everything we needed, all in a 600-yr-old building. We loved its location, close to a genuine precinct, with supermarket, hardware, baker, food market, families out with kids and dogs. We felt like locals!

The Navona Charming Flat is a delightful self-contained retreat from the hustle and bustle of central Rome. It has all the facilities one could desire in a compact layout including a well appointed kitchen area and a bathroom on both floors. The very comfortable double bed is situated on a mezzanine floor overlooking the main sitting room and there is plenty of room to store everything from your suitcase. The location is ideal, a few minutes from the very popular Piazza Navona. Most of the well known locations in Rome are within easy walking distance but there are taxis in abundance.

Navona Charming Flat was truly a wonderful choice for our week in Rome! Andrea is an excellent host, and the apartment is indeed charming. The king size bed in the upstairs loft was very comfortable, and it was lovely having 2 full bathrooms. We loved the unusual, three-level bathroom upstairs. The washing machine does not include a dryer, but we were able to air dry our clothes within 36-48 hours. The shower in the downstairs bath was fantastic, excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. The location simply could not be better, central to everything. Everything was wonderful!

Location
The neighbourhood
The street runs perpendicular to the famous Vicolo del Governo Vecchio in the Parione quarter – named for the presence of an old wall probably belonging to the Stadium of Domitian. You're not far from the Jewish Quarter where most of Rome's famous cuisine originated – try Forno Roscioli and gelateria Frigidarium. Recommended restaurants are Alfredo e Ada and Osteria La Fiaschetta.
Local points of interest from Andrea Marcello
- Piazza Navona (2 min walk from the apt): the square represents the pride of Baroque Rome, and is home to the Fountain of the Rivers, one of Gian Lorenzo Bernini's greatest masterpieces.
- The Campo de’Fiori square in Rome (3 min from the apt) hosts a typical open-air market during the day, with flowers, fruit and vegetables. At night it is one of the most popular spots for both Italians and tourists.
- Just 10 minutes’ walk from the apt you can reach the Basilica of St. Peter. Among its masterpieces, do not miss Michelangelo's Pietà and the tomb of Pope John Paul II. The Vatican Museums are only a short walk from Bernini's colonnade.
- There are several churches nearby, including the Church of St. Agostino and the Church of San Luigi dei Francesi where you can see 4 of Caravaggio's paintings for free, including The Calling of St. Matthew and the Madonna di Loreto.
- Small family restaurants are available around the corner, tucked away and barely visible. Here you can enjoy wholesome meals as part of the Roman cuisine.
- Trattoria La Montecarlo (in the same street as the apartment): great pizza and typical Roman cuisine at affordable prices.

Introducing
Andrea Marcello
Andrea, a hands-on host, is a native Roman with ancient noble origins. He thoroughly enjoys advising guests on all the best secrets of the city.
This is indeed a charming flat in a splendid position tucked in a side street in a pretty part of the city. Carved out of a corner of a palazzo courtyard behind a grand doorway off the street it was clean, loved and well equipped, and incredibly quiet at night. We chose to eat out as there were so many tempting local cafes and restaurants to choose from, but the kitchen had everything you might need and a market not far away if you wanted to rustle up more than a coffee. Lovely secret lodgings for our four days in Roma.
