The Experience

You’d be forgiven for just staying put on your terrace, by – and in – the pool; nature matters here: listen to the bees enjoying Rosanna’s garden, orchard and vines; arrange a light, home-grown lunch, let the children slide, swing, play table tennis. Get together in the evenings for a barbecue or wander down the road for a pizza.

But then, there are horses to be ridden and golf to be played at the bottom of the hill; nearby beaches to bathe from, the palmed promenade and cafés of Portofino to enjoy, and Rapallo’s harbours and castle. Genova’s only half an hour away; buses to the Cinque Terre go three times a day.

You could spend hiking days in the magnificent Parco Naturale Regionale di Portofino; a steeply rewarding 90-minute walk from the villa takes you to Santuario di Caravaggio for more magnificent views and perfect for a picnic.

Reviews

The view from the top makes the windy drive up so worth it - you can relax by the pool and never let the glistening sea vistas out of sight. It's the perfect place to relax - let the kids run free. It's an easy walk to the local pizzeria and a short drive to gorgeous coast.

Sara is a great personality. She made us very welcome and responded to any requests promptly. The pool area is exceptional - 2 lovely pools, plenty of loungers, beautiful garden and stunning views. Kiwi apartment is very small, very basic, no comfortable easy chairs but the terrace area outside is quite spacious and private. There are lots of steps up to the pool area. The villa is up a quiet, steep road just outside Rapallo, which is a busy town.

My partner and I stayed here for three fabulous days. The location was just perfect set high up in the quiet hills with glorious views down to the sea. Sara and her mother were perfect hosts and could not do enough for us. The apartment was very clean, modern and well equipped. It was only a very simple drive down to Rapallo, portofino or the motorway. The restaurant at the bottom of the road, was very friendly, good value and so handy. I would definitely recommend.

Location

The neighbourhood

The approach road is steep and winding, the reward: stunning sea views from many of the apartments and from the pool-side loungers. Pizzeria Romina is good, inexpensive and just 1k walk away. It’s a 5-minute drive to the golf course; 10 to Rapallo, to Chiavari beach and to the walking trails of the Portofino Natural Park; 2k to the nearest supermarket; 4k to the lovely small beach and town of Santa Margherita; Portofino’s just a little further

Introducing

Sara Piaggio

Daughter and mother team Sara and Rosanna (and not forgetting Sara’s daughter Stella) have been in charge of things here since 2009 and have made their agriturismo apartments and grounds fun and family-friendly. The surrounding olive groves and orchards were planted by Sara’s grandfather and if you order a lunchtime platter it will include their garden produce: tomatoes, fruits etc. Animals here include friendly dogs, cats and donkeys
